First 747-400 Headed For the Wrecking Ball

Air New Zealand has begun the process of scrapping 19-year-old ZK-NBS, their first 747-400. It will be the first of the type to be chopped up due to old age and the fifth overall. (Four 747-400s have been written off and scrapped due to accidents).

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
