Socks

you may all think i'm crazy, but i've spent the better part of this winter searching for quality boot socks. the ones i wear now are leftover from boot camp (which was almost 10 years ago and they've held up wonderfully). they're cotton cusion-sole socks that are perfect, except for the fact that i have only 5 pairs left. i've tried buying the new GI-issue cushion-sole socks but they've only been a waste of money. please, if anyone here knows of good boot socks then let me know. i've heard everyone talk about Wigwam but i don't feel like spending $70 on a pair of socks. help!

Matt,
The LI Fire, Rescue and EMS Show is tomorrow 10-5PM at the Nassau Coliseum. There are several vendors that had great boots and I believe socks. 5-11 Tactical clothing is there and they have some great stuff.

I lot of buffy stuff too. I like the halligan bottle opener.

of course i'm working. i'm not too big a fan of 5-11, i remember them when they first came out the quality of thier shirts wasn't that great. i do have one of thier tactical polos though and it's held up really well. i'm even considering getting a few more.

Their pull over sweat (standard fire wear) are nice. I picked up on tonight. Pen pockets, hand warmer and small speaker mike clip pockets.

The place is a buff's paradise, any thing and every thing is there. You can even buy an truck.

I've been using Fox River socks in my boots and hockey skates. Not only do they fit well and keep my feet warm, but they maintain their comfort in the toughest variable....when wet. They are strong and not too thick to where they let your feet move around too much.

After using these socks for 3 years, I've only had to buy more when losing them. Also, after all that time, I only two days ago got my first rip in one of them.

Pretty nice on the wallet at only $7.75 a pair.

I have my own problem. I need a new mask/hood. It doesn't have to be fire retardant or thick, but I want something that is snug and covers the neck. Ideas?

are you looking for a balaclava? i just use a shemagh instead of a scarf in the winter.

Yes, a balaclava. All of my regular catalogs have nothing, or very few options.

uscav is where i do most of my shopping when it comes to boots/ fatigues/ tactical gear. brigade quartermaster is a little cheaper but they carry most of the same gear.
