    Airlines Q3 Earnings Reports

    Southwest
    -$120 million
First quarterly loss in 17 years, due to reassessing the value of their fuel hedges.

    Continental
    -$236 million
Due to fuel costs and the effects of Hurricane Ike, which shut down their Houston hub for a few days.

    More to come this week...
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
