    JetBlue evacuates NY JFK terminal

    Sounds like another bomb scare

    September 22, 2008

    NEW YORK

JetBlue has evacuated its terminal at Kennedy Airport after finding a suspicious package.

JetBlue spokeswoman Alison Eshelman says the terminal was emptied out around 7:50 a.m. Monday.

She says "we're still evaluating" the situation. The package was found in a luggage.

She could not say how many people were in the terminal at the time, but says the morning is a "slower time period" for the airline.

NEW YORK (AP) _ JetBlue has reopened its terminal at New York's Kennedy Airport following a brief evacuation due to a suspicious package.

JetBlue spokeswoman Alison Eshelman says passengers returned inside Terminal 6 at 8:15 a.m. Monday.

She says the package turned out to be WWII replica paper weights that resembled grenades. Scanners spotted them in a passenger's luggage, and the terminal was emptied around 7:50 a.m.

Morons like this should automatically be added to the TSA blacklist. That is if they're not already.

Did this affect the T5 festivities at all? I would imagine a good number of jetBlue folks at the event had some scurrying to do to straighten this out.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
