CONFIRMED: First Emirates A380 flight to JFK AUGUST 1st

According to a recent internal newsletter at Emirates the first 2 A380s should be joining the fleet towards the end of this summer and the first could be deployed to JFK on August 1st!

I'm not sure what this means regarding their "official" ceremony that was due to take place on October 1st but I'll post more when I learn more.

Re: Emirates A380 to JFK Earlier then October?

Maybe training for JFK staff and testing of the new jetways?
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

Instead of the planned inaugural flight on October 1st, Emirates will be starting A380 flights to JFK on August 1st. The flight will arrive into JFK at 4:45pm as EK3801 and depart at 9:05pm as EK3802.

Great news, and I look forward to seeing the A-380 back at JFK. according to JP news there is also suppose to be another flight arriving the 3rd, and leaving the 6th. Does anyone know if this will be the one we already saw (MSN: 007)?
Also, nice chose of flight numbers

Alright, some more information regarding the A380 to JFK.

Emirates will operate the A380 to JFK 3 times a week from August 1st. Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday will have the added flight to DXB arriving at 4:45pm and departing at 10:05pm until October 1st when the A380 will take over EK201/202 as originally planned.

Apparently there are some BIG surprises for the inaugural flight but no word on what they are yet.

Does anyone know when Singapore will begin Whalejet flights to JFK?

It's interesting to think of that behemoth becoming "common" (relatively) at JFK in the years to come ....

The days of the Singapore 747-400 at JFK are certainly numbered since the airline will begin to phase all of them out very soon. However whether it will be replaced by a 777-300ER or an A380 is still up for debate I believe.
