    Southwest Airlines Announces New Service in Denver

    DALLAS, April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Southwest Airlines announced today an expansion of its service in Denver with six new nonstop flights and two new destinations. The additional service includes new nonstop flights between Denver and Portland and Indianapolis. The Company also announced it will add one additional nonstop flight between Denver and Las Vegas.     Southwest Airlines also will add one additional daily nonstop flight between Denver and San Antonio for travel beginning on August 23, 2008.

    "Denver has been and will remain a focus city for us," Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly said. "The market is responding very well to our growth, and as a result, we are excited to add more flights and destinations at low fares for our Denver Customers."

    BEGINNING JUNE 4, 2008:

    -- Two new daily nonstop roundtrips between Denver and Portland.
    -- Two new daily nonstop roundtrips between Denver and Indianapolis.
    -- One additional daily nonstop roundtrip between Denver and Las Vegas
    (for a total of eight).

    BEGINNING AUGUST 23, 2008:

    -- One additional daily nonstop roundtrip between Denver and San Antonio
    (for a total of two).

    That's news to me. They just resumed DEN service maybe three years ago and not it is a focus city?

    A Focus city in terms of focusing on DEN, along with other major cities. I don't think it means focus city as in under hub status type.

    DEN has been the largest and fastest growing market in history for Southwest Airlines and has been extremely succesful and profitable for the company.

    With F9 and UA hurting, DEN is a great market for SW to operate strategic money-making routes. I would not be surprised to see a handful more cities pop up out of DEN in the near future.

    F9 is hurting in large part BECAUSE OF SW's expansion into DEN...
