Hi out there. I was just wondering if there are any stores that might sell model planes and flight DVD's in the city. Or does anybody know of any shops at the local airports that might sell this kind of stuff. Thanks in advance :) :) :)

You will never know what you will be capable of until you try
I have not seen many but out in NJ there is some place. Anyone else care to fill in?

The airplane shop in Fairfield, New Jersey

I know there used to be one in JFK that sold airplane models and collectibles, it was a pretty big store. I know in JFK T4 there are a couple vendors that sell small airplanes here and there, but I'm not sure if your looking for those kinds of things?
You could also try ebay, they have a very wide variety of models and dvds for often inexpensive prices.
There's one place, the Red Caboose, which has some models. They're on 45th Street in Manhattan (23 W45th) and though the name suggests they'd be a model train place (which they also have), they have a bunch of aviation models. They have a website, but it's doesn't show any of their inventory.

theres a store at JFK terminal 4 where they sell toys before the checkpoints to gates 20to 30, They have Skymarks 1:200/1:250 scale models there... I remember seeing a KLM 747-100, El AL 777 and a few others there... Also theres a small store in the Empire State Building I think in the second floor, they have some Skymarks 1:200/1:250 scale models there too

Jan's Hobby Shop on Lexington Ave. by E. 93rd. They sell Gemini and Herpa in 1:400 and 1:500 as well as Hogan 1:200. Otherthan that there's Airplane shop in Fairfield. Personally, I go eztoys.com . I'm an Aeroclassics 1:400 and Inflight 1:200 man myself and they are a dealer and the service is great.

Idlewild, Is the Herpa 1:500 scale planes cheaper than the Airplane Shop or are they all the same price as The Airplane Shop??Originally Posted by Idlewild

Cheaper at Jan's? I think Jan's might be more. But if you live in NYC and go to NJ by car you have to factor in tolls and gas so it may wind up the same.

Last I knew the aviation inventory was relatively small and not updated too often. On the other hand, it was a hard-core train enthusiast store, so some interesting aviation stuff stayed on the shelf for awhile. Off hand, I remember picking up a Herpa UPS 747 at normal price quite some time after they were no longer made available to the general public.Originally Posted by pgengler
I remember the other place, Jan's as being more expensive, and again, with limited stock.
Things may have changed at either or both places though. Quite some years since I was there.
