NOTAM Issued for Thursday Satellite Shootdown

The Navy will attempt to shoot down the plummeting spy satellite this Thursday according to published reports. Details are still secret, but a NOTAM has been issued from Honolulu Center...

    !CARF 02/062 (PHZH A0038/08) ZHN AIRSPACE CARF NR. 90 ON EVELYN STATIONARY RESERVATION WITHIN AN AREA BNDD BY 3145N 17012W 2824N 16642W 2352N 16317W 1909N 16129W 1241N 16129W 1239N 16532W 1842N 17057W 2031N 17230W 2703N 17206W SFC-UNL WEF 0802210230-0802210500
Indeed, an amateur satellite spotter has made a map correlating the coordinates of the NOTAM to the orbit of the satellite and sure enough the satellite will pass right through it at the designated time. Check it out here.

I doubt there'll be any documentation of this, huh? I'd love to see SOMETHING at least.

For the satellite spotters, this must be be huge.

This sounds like the plot to a 50s SciFi Monster movie. The Space Shuttle lands today, there is a full lunar eclipse tonite (going on as I write) and the military is attempting to shoot down a rogue satellite for reasons that are "vague". Possibly because there is an alien entity aboard the satellite and the space shuttles real reason for going up was to asess the situation and report to US Space Command and of course the moons eclipse somehow ties into the origin of the alien.
LOLOLOLOL!!!!!! Hey I'm copywriting this!!! Theres a Cameron/Spielberg movie in there somewhere!!!

The news media is reporting the Navy has just fired the missle!!!

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- An inoperable U.S. spy satellite orbiting 150 miles above Earth was struck Wednesday by a missile fired from a U.S. Navy cruiser, military sources told CNN.

The Pentagon said the window of opportunity to strike the 5,000-pound satellite opened Wednesday, when the space shuttle Atlantis landed in Florida. The Pentagon wanted to be sure the shuttle would not be struck by any debris from a destroyed satellite.
