A man whose drunken antics on an American Airlines SEA-MIA flight forced the crew to divert to DEN has reached a plea bargain with prosecutors.
Russell Petrie of British Columbia managed to procure five vodka drinks and two glasses of wine from flight attendants, despite exclaiming when he first boarded "Let's party and have some drinks!" When Petrie was cut off, he declared "you don't [deleted] decide how much vodka I can drink . . . I'll meet you off the airplane." He then proceeded to grab a female flight attendant's buttocks, made suggestive comments to female passengers, and pounded on the walls of the lavatory.
Under the plea, he may serve up to a year in prison and owe a $10,000 fine, plus $7,757 in compensation to American for the diversion. A sexual assault charge was dropped.
