    Keep Delta My Delta

All those talks about DL mergers are pissing me off. What the hell Delta is doing? Year ago they were crying like a babies that they don't want to be swallowed by any airline. Now when their financial status is little bit better comparing to last year they go on f*%#en shopping rampage for airlines.
Improve what you have and enjoy profits. I hate those talks how after the merger airlines will lower prices, will have better network etc. The only outcome of another merger will be:
    - thousands of layoffs
    - reduced seat capacity on many routes
    - no competition = no customer service

Management is trying to make company profitable, but if your product is not profitable now - why do they think that all of a sudden after the merger company will turn a profit?

Do you remember this letter? Exactly one year ago Delta was crying and kicking. Look at them now. I've lost hope for them.

    "February 1, 2007

    Dear Rafal,

As you may know, on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 US Airways announced it withdrew its unsolicited proposal to merge with Delta Air Lines.

On behalf of the 104,000 active and retired Delta people worldwide, please accept our sincere thanks for your efforts over the past two months to help “Keep Delta My Delta!” Your support for our campaign made a difference. The petitions you signed and the letters you sent to Congress and to the Departments of Justice and Transportation played a significant role in our success.

Importantly, it helped ensure that 45,000 proud Delta professionals around the globe will continue to have the opportunity to meet your personal and business travel needs with world-class service and superior performance – now and in the future.

We are honored by your support and very appreciative of your business.

    Thank you! "

    Take care,
    Rafal

Hey you know Rafal some smart dude wrote an editorial on this topic....hehe ;)

The fact is its not about the company at all but the shareholder value. Delta's problem is they promised their shareholders a 6 billion dollar market cap by this time and they aren't even half of that. So the shareholders are crying now..its all about money..that's it.

    Tommy,

I didn't see your editorial when I posted my post :) Now when I'm done reading it I can say that basiclly I wrote what you wrote but not to the same extent as you did :)
If Delta merges with NW then I will put them on my NO NO list along with AA :)

I think the fact is Rafal no major airline will be mergering with each other. The costs and time it will take are just to big. I wouldn't be surprised to see a larger airliner buy out a smaller one but I don't see two of the large Network Carriers coming together. The logistics are just far to complex. You will see one or two of the contract carriers go away. Expressjet will be the first with Mesa a possible second. Look at Republic to dominate the contract carrier market, they are doing all the right things.

    Don't be so sure..

Seems DL/NW meger deal is expected to be announced next week, but coould go way of the KLM/AF deal also.

A deal between Delta Air Lines Inc and Northwest Airlines could be announced as early as next week, the Wall Street Journal reported on its Web site late Wednesday.

Merger discussions between the two carriers have picked up steam, and major snags over how management of the combined Delta-Northwest airline would be structured were overcome earlier this week, the Journal said, citing sources who have been briefed on the negotiations.
