Bring the noise- something we can all relate to perhaps.

I think that most of the human population can relate to music in some way. So I hope that each and every single user who clicks on this thread will take a moment to share a bit about it.

The other morning, I was driving to the office and heard a song being sung by Pink.

I've always loved music but over the past 4-5 years I really don't pay as much attention to the newer artists out there. I mean, I lisen to whats coming out, but rarely do I know who's singing what.
I love hearing most music and have to say I've been consistently enjoying what Pink sings.

Now having said that, I 'm usually blasting all other sorts of music through my speakers and of course, it just makes me feel great.

I began thinking about some of the artists that I never really get tired of hearing. Over the years, I've can always look forward to listening to artists such as

    The Eagles
    Dave Matthews Band
    Marc Antoine
    Dave Koz
    Red Hot Chili Peppers
I can listen to these guys anytime and they just produce such a soulful noise, its awesome.

And I also dig the old Motown stuff. I can gel to that for hours on end.
I can even appreciate Michael Jackson (Of course, you have to suppress any visual reference you have to him  )

I also listen to artists that most of you have probably never heard of, that play a type of music called kompa(or konpa/compas/conpas) with bands such as T-vice, Tabou Combo and Zin. Its haitian music with guitar, congas, bongos and deep bass that just resonanates within your bone marrow.

    Lynard Skynard
Slash (You can't believe this spanish guitar piece he one recorded)
    Moby
    New Radicals

Gosh, I can sit here and list so many different artists and music genres that I so enjoy but I won't bore you.
And as much as I love these types of music and especially konpa, which most of you probably wouldn't be into, I know many of you are into other things that I likewise can't get into listening to.

Instead, I am hoping many of you might join in and perhaps tell us about the music that you guys can't get enough of and tell us why!

I'm curious to know other's tastes are and perhaps what may have gotten you into that type of music. For instance, you might love hardcore metal, or rap, opera or classical, but what do you like about it?

I really hope to learn more about music in this thread.
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...

I'm very ecclectic musically. I can listen to anything from Zeppelin/Floyd/Black Sabbath/Judas Priest one day, the next maybe some 50 Cent and Ludachris. But now days my mainstay is electronic and industrial music. I will never touch the likes of Country ever, thats where I draw the line.

Over 30 views here and, well, too bad. I guess no one else really appreciates the medium?

NYARTCCFAN, its interesting you mention electronica. I find there are subtle genres within the genre.
My old roomate in Manhattan used to listen to electronic but one thing he was really into was the soundtracks from various video games. I remember him blasting the music he'd hear from various Final Fantasy games. Some of it was quite symphonic!

    Okay, I'll play too.

If someone were to find my Ipod, they would be very confused. It has everything from Sinatra to Stone Temple Pilots on there and everything in between.

The group that I have the most music from on it, The Crystal Method. You hear a lot of their music on CSI (the original). They did the theme from Third Watch (Keep Hope Alive) and that's what turned me onto them.

This past December Starbucks had a "Song Download a Day" giveaway so I think I got about 28 of the 37 songs they had as giveaways. Talk about an eclectic mix of music, almost everything under the sun there, Country, Latin, McCartny, Jazz & Blues. It's a nice change of pace to hear every once in a while.

i'm very big on metallica folks, and own every cd they've ever recorded and almost every concert DVD as well. went to the S&M show in berkley and when they played the garden in '97. haven't been to a concert since newsted left though, i'm very interested to see how that's changed the band.

aside from that there is a huge mis of mp3s on my computer. i like a lot of trance and techno, though i mainly save that for working out. that's in a separate folder and i have no idea sometimes what the groups are.

a lot of what i listen to is a mixture of classic rock and the stuff that was on the radio when i was in high school/ college. right now i only use 3 of the radio presets in my truck: 104.3, 101.1 (glad they're back) and 92.3. my music folder is comprised of: ac/dc, aerosmith, alice cooper, allman brothers, beatles, black sabbath, bob seger, bon jovi, boston, bruce springstein, ccr, creed, depech mode, clapton, eagles, foo figters, disturbed, godsmack, foreigner, green day, linkin park, manson, motorhead, misfits, nirvana, pink floyd, rob zombie, rolling stones, slipknot,
mushroomhead, the clash, the doors, the who, tool, u2, van halen, zz top, waren zevon, white lion. there are a lot of others but i didn't feel like going through the folder in that much detail. those above are the mainstay.

it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Agreed! I literally have a song or artist from every genre of music, categories, and year. I usually like a song from any type.

I listen to music because as a deaf person it reminds me not all is lost, and music is how I function and express myself in ways not to many people can do so. I hate hearing silence, so I continuly play music, non stop. 24/7 In my car, in the ipod, in the plane. It is always palying. It keeps me upbeat and such.

Many people like songs for different reasons, they may hate the lyric but like the beat, they may like songs only cause the artist sang it.

With that I enjoy Shania Twain the biggest it seems every song she produces rocks. Not everyone would agree and most hate her music. Kenny Chesney I enjoy 2nd because it seems every song he wrote was meant for me. Whether a serious song, or a funny song.

LOL, same here. Recently I've been listening to a lot of Led Zeppelin but in the morning going
to work I like some smooth jazz like The Joe Zawinul Project, Boney James, Blue Knights etc.
In the evening I go a little harder like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Pink Floyd, Rush and lots of progressive classic rock, Yes, ELP, Moody Blues, Asia.
But I also really like the Kanye West song "Stronger" and "Starlight" by Muse and a number of the
    Z100 type songs.
And my guiltiest pleasure is "Souldja Boy"!!! I was goofying around with my 13 year old daughter
showing her that I could do the "Souldja Boy" dance so she got me his CD for the holidays. Listened
to it in my SUV when I drove up to New Hampshire recently and actually LIKED IT!!!!!!
A few weeks ago we were at a friends sons Bar Mitzvah and the DJ played that song and my wife
told me to go up which I did ("x" amount of cocktails would do that) but my daughter was SOOO
mortified (even though her friends were encouraging me) I had to sit down!!
    Oh well. :D

I HATE that song with a passion!!! Please say it ain't so!

Though I have to admit seeing an adult male doing that song would be quite funny. My 6 yr old sister dances to it and it mortifies me hahaha.

HAHAHAHAHA, I think your daughter would be mortified of knowing your admitting it to everyone hahaha.

That dance just looks so akward and you almost have to wear baggy clothes and stuff to make it look "right" Before now I find myself claiming I "superman" it into a room or something.

Do you even understand the lyrics man? HAHAHA.

John, "If someone were to find my ipod" is a great name for this thread. Didn't know Crystal Method was on CSI, the Vegas one?
And yep, I have been introduced to so much new music while studying at Starbucks over the last 10 years. I really enjoy that the experience as I sip my java.

Hey Alex, thanks for chiming in and sharing how you feel the music. That said, Shania is one fine looking gal  Oh and she sings nicely too IMHO.

Gerard, ..Boney James to Vai to Muse, that is awesome! Further, I think its time you make your own youtube video and present it for your daughter, dancing to that song

Was listening to z100 type songs your thing or was it more that your daughter is probably into it and it exposes you to it?

LOL, she might disown me as her dad!!!

    >Was listening to z100 type songs your thing or was it more that your daughter is probably into it and it exposes you to it<
Yeah mostly my daughter. I usually let her listen to it when I'm driving her and her friends around. Though my main
music is classic rock (everything from the Allmans to Yes) and jazz fusion (Weather Report, Return To Forever etc)there are many individual songs I really like that I hear on Z100. I wouldnt go out to see them live or buy their albums but I
    like the song.
Heck the one guy that totally blew my mind (LOL showing my age) was John Mayer!! I thought him to be a Z100 staple
with his poppy songs!! THEN....I saw him on TV jamming with Eric Clapton and other blues masters and wailing away
on guitar!! What the heck was THAT all about!!?? Talk about not judging a book by its cover!! His idol was Stevie Ray
    Vaughn!! Who knew!!
