No worries the hospital is going to tell him to shove it up his ass anyway.

Re: Man Says NYC Hospital Forced Rectal Exam

When You go into the ER as a trauma patient a doctor does a rectal probe with 1 finger and wipes it on a piece of chemically treated cardboard that can show signs of internal bleeding and sometimes spinal cord injury. The last time I took the Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support Class (last summer), we were told that the Digital Rectal Exam was being phased out in conscious patients and even some unconscious patients whose mechanism of injury was not consistent with internal injuries, loss of sphincter tone, and or a foreign body penetration. I think the test is a little embarrassing and unnecessary in certain cases. Especially since every time I've witnessed it, the ER Doctor lubes up a gloved pointer finger and just as he/she is about to dig in the same phrase is always muttered, "OK, I'm going to stick a finger in your bottom now." Sorry for the graphic details!
