Local newscasts say that an Eva Air B74F and an American Eagle nearly collided just after 4 PM at JFK on Dec. 9. The B74F was approaching 13L but decided to "go around" while the American Eagle, approaching 22L, also decided to "go around". Both aircraft came within 300 feet, according to the reports. What is strange is that Eva Air has no flights into JFK according to their published schedules, so I have no flight # to look-up. Who can clear-up this mystery? I was always skeptical about using the 13L and 22L simultaneously for arrivals, although they are perpendicular.
