St. Augustine, FL (SGJ) - Skybus Photos - 11/28

My friend Lane and I decided to check out the Skybus operation in St. Augustine today. We tracked Skybus 95 on Flightaware and eventually met up with her at SGJ. N552SX operated the flight today, landing on runway 31.

Finally, here's a shot of their makeshift "terminal" there.

We met up with their station manager (though, technically, that wasn't her exact title). She and the rest folks there were very nice and receptive to Lane and I - surprisingly even about the possibility of us snapping some photos of the flight's arrival and were surprised we'd traveled up there just to take a look at their operation.

We also found a dozen or so derelict ex-U.S. Navy Grumman S-2 Trackers. Here's a photo of one, nearly completely overgrown with weeds. Such a shame considering what these birds did for our country back in the day.

    Cheers,
    Chris in ATL

Great photos, Chris. I don't even remember them announcing SGJ... What is that suppose to mimic JAX? As if JAX is too expensive and busy. Give me a break!

They market it as Jacksonville/Daytona Beach. As for JAX/DAB - neither of those airports are at capacity! The staff at SGJ is really proud of their single flight per day though!

I think they are adding both PSM and GSO from their also this winter. I saw an a.net trip report from their with photos and the baggage claim consited of the tug and carts pulling into the make shift claim area then the passengers pulling their own bags off the carts. "Now that's class" ! And Chris in your first photo looks like some pretty nice houses with an airport view. BTW during the Super Bowl at JAX a few years ago I remember DL operated a few Super Bowl Charters out of SGJ including a 738 nonstop all the way to LAX. I am done rambling now!

Yeah, I saw photos on Flickr of the DL 738 at SGJ, they used the FBO as their terminal. As to where they found TSA agents - who knows?!
