Do Ryanair fly to Barajas or was it a diversion or something similar? I thought they fly to some airfield 500miles out of MAD...

Tons and Tons of Ryanair to MAD. I saw at least 6 737-800s arrive throughout the day.

INNflight,
Ryanair flies to Madrid-Barajas and should be one of the few international airports in their network. I think that besides Dublin, Manchester and Madrid, Ryanair only offers flights to regional airports.
