China Southern and Hainan to begin service to EWR

I hope this news is appropriate for this forum, as it doesn't really apply for several months.

It seems both China Southern and Hainan will begin service to EWR in 2008 and 2009, respectively, from Beijing.

It'll be good to see some more international carriers at EWR.

wow ill be looking foward to seeing these asian airlines serve the NYC market. What type of aircraft is Hainan is suppose to opperate? I know China Southern will most likely be using the 777-200ER to EWR. And are they going to be in terminal B as well?

Don't forget that the 787 is a possibility.

The only aircraft due for delivery through 2008 are A330-300s and 787s. They could either replace one of the shorter preexisting 777 flights (i.e. CDG or AMS) with the 787, or launch EWR with the 787, making a big PR deal of a new route with a new plane.

By the way, for those who don't know (I didn't), Beijing is getting a really sweet new airport opening next year for the Olympics.

I think China Southern is going to start with 777. However, Hainan doesn't really have suitable wide-bodies right now. I suppose they will use 787 on the EWR route; and if so, will it be one of the very first airlines to serve EWR using 787, or will CO gets its first 787 by then?

china southern has 772ERs, which should be able to make it nonstop if you're flying over the poles. i forgot about thier 787 order, so for nowi guess it's a toss-up.
