Saw Met Life Blimp

I was visiting Staten Island on Friday and suddenly I saw the Met Life blimp pass overhead heading north. Does anybody know why she was here? Where was she berthed?

Metlife Blimp had been at FRG last week.

It might be here for aerial views of the US Open out at Flushing Meadows. I attended the free practice sessions on Saturday and saw close-up Serena Williams and Roger Federer but the cloud cover precluded the blimp from flying.

Its still at FRG, prob be there for the weekend to.

The open is in session but as of 1530 lcl on Monday afternoon no blimps in sight, the Goodyear is one of the regulars for the open. LGA is departing 13, and as in past years there are flying the Flushing Climb, no right turn after takeoff, just straight out runway heading for a ways.

Yes, I was at Flushing Meadows at the same time on Mon. The LGA departures were definitely climbing straight out, almost runway heading. The blimp usually only comes on weekends when CBS telecasts the games. Since Fujifilm is no longer a sponsor, the Fuji blimp rarely visits the US Open anymore.

I got a couple of shots of her as she is at KFRG. I got a nice takeoff sequence too. I can not post right now and I am moving this week so no promises.

I believe she was at the Barclay's PGA Playoff over this past weekend. I was working there and CBS did cover it Sat and Sun.

Interesting that I just noticed this thread. I just saw the MetLife passing about 10 minutes ago over North Jersey. Is there only one, or could there be another one painted in similar colors?

I saw it departing the FRG area around 9:15 this morning, so it could very well be the same blimp. According to their web site, they have 2 blimps, "Snoopy One" and "Snoopy Two". Based on the photos I took a few days ago, S-1 is visiting.

Yeah me too. He was just north of me by the LIE and 110 heading westbound.

At about 5:30 I saw it moving low and slow by the Hicksville area.
