    AirTran Starting SWF-PBI In Nov + Added DL Flight to ATL

    AirTran will be starting daily flights from SWF to PBI effective November 7th.

    It's not MDW but hey, it's means more traffic for SWF.

    AirTran Adds More Flights at Newburgh

    - AirTran Airways Flies South to West Palm Beach for the Winter -

    ORLANDO, Fla., July 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI), today announced that it will be adding daily nonstop service between Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, N.Y. and Palm Beach International Airport in West Palm Beach, Fla., beginning November 7, 2007. West Palm Beach becomes the third Florida city that Newburgh customers can reach nonstop.

    "AirTran Airways prides itself in offering our customers low prices to great destinations," said John Kirby, director of strategic planning and scheduling for AirTran Airways. "Our customers have asked for West Palm Beach service from Newburgh, and AirTran Airways is delivering."

"Thanks to AirTran Airways, the Hudson Valley has a new, nonstop option to this sun-soaked, popular destination."

    In addition to West Palm Beach, AirTran Airways offers nonstop service between Newburgh and Atlanta, Orlando and Tampa.

    AirTran Airways will offer the following nonstop flight options between Newburgh and West Palm Beach, effective November 7, 2007:

    Every other AirTran flight to SWF is on a 717-200 so I'd imagine the flight will also be on a 717-200. It'd be nice to see a 737-700 though.

    Just in time for the snow-birds!

    Sounds like it will be good service... Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the service ended around April/May....

    You must be happy for that in any regard. :lol: I'd also imagine they use the 717-200 since that's all they currently use at HPN and SWF.

    Air Tran has a bit of a history of doing the seasonal kick with cities of htis size catagory though initally announced as seasonal. SRQ-LGA and SRQ-BOS are great examples of such. SRQ-LGA dissapeared all together and SRQ-BOS went to Saturday only service from November through January. It may be gone all together now though.
