I am pretty sure almost all flights have now been switched to Terminal 9?
IIRC all flights are through T9 as of now.

8 and 9 are connected, if you're concerned about getting off at the wrong AirTrain stop.

On the day of my flight do I have to go to jfk and go through immigration or is that only when i land. im a little new to this because i usually travel on southwest. thanks.
