S-92 Display with Statue of Liberty - June 25th

By pure chance today, I was able to watch an immaculate S-92 Helibus - White with twin blue cheat lines (somewhat reminiscent of Boeing House Colors) make several passes aroound the Statue of Libertly with an S-76 escort (presumably taking photos). At one point the S-92 hovered for several minutes in place ....

This is one large chopper and this particular one is a beauty.

On the downside, guess who didn't have his camera? Couldn't quite catch the registrations, but not surprisingly both "N"s....

Anyone have any details on this?

Tom, around 1200N I was on a MetroNorth train southbound approaching 125th street when I noticed two decent size helicopters flying Eastbound in close formation, and I wondered if a photoshoot was in progress. Around what time did you see them ?

saw it flying past the LGA tower in formation with an S-76 on my way in to work. i was crossing the ramp around 1210 today.

personally, i think that the H-53 is much better looking than the S-92, the damn thing looks like a city bus with rotors.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Ron, Matt... yeah, that was them. Same time. I had a doctors appt in Manhattan and wouldn't have seen them othewise.

As for the H-53... yeah, if the S-92 is in any sort of drab military colors (as a few have been) they can't compete with the H-53 in appearance really.

But any bright civil colors and I think this S-92 is pretty sharp.

They're all just suped up Jolly Green Giants as far as I am concerned anyway.. Their appeal is their size. They seem like they'll blow an Enstrom or Robinson right off one of the piers... haha....

From what I was told it is United Technologies new S-92 that was on a photo flight.

    Thanks Gerard.

Do you know if UT is going to base it in our area?

Would love to see it again.

Not certain. I know they have a corporate 76 that works around here so maybe they are replacing it? Does anyone know where they hangar? Up in Ct. I presume.
