    787 rollout party planned

Boeing expects to fill Qwest Field on July 8 with as many as 50,000 employees and retirees invited to view a live simulcast on the stadium screens as the first 787 Dreamliner rolls out in Everett.

At the Everett plant, aviation VIPs, politicians and journalists from across the world will join several thousand Boeing employees who work on the Dreamliner inside the 787 final-assembly bay.

The Qwest Field simulcast is for ex-employees and current Boeing workers on other programs. Each may invite one guest and must register by June 15.

For the public, the rollout will be carried live at 3:30 p.m. that day on satellite TV (DirecTV and DishNetwork) and will be broadcast in nine languages over the Internet from Boeing's Web site.

Bob Watt, Boeing vice president responsible for local community relations, informed employees of the Qwest Field event via e-mail Wednesday. Boeing retirees will be mailed an invitation in the coming days.

The stadium event will kick off at 3 p.m. with a pre-rollout program hosted jointly by Watt and retired Boeing chairman and CEO Frank Shrontz.

Boeing currently employs more than 70,000 people in the greater Puget Sound region, and it estimates there are approximately 42,000 retirees.

Attendance is limited to 50,000 people, and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The first 25,000 guests will receive a 787 glider as a souvenir.

and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

Any idea when the first flight will likely to be? Normally it's 2-3 month after the official rollout, right?

The plane is being rolled out on 7/8/07 with its first flight in August. You just don't roll a plane off the line and go fly it. There's a series of ground tests it must go through first.

Yeah, I know that... I was a little sleepy when I was reading this thread and I thought that July was the 6th month, even though that is June (Tired...)
