Air India 777 from EWR

What was the reason for Air India's 777 to go EWR-JFK?

I couldn't find any info on why Air India 144landed there but we do know it was headed to CDG and currently now, its heading there. Must of been some sick passenger or minor cause as it didnt make the news.

No it came into EWR on time and the weather was fine. Only thing I can think of is did Air India cancel any of their flights to JFK in the last few days? Maybe to pick up some stranded pax? The EWR flight routes through CDG so its not a surprise to see that is where it departed to from JFK.

I'm wondering if these flights are to perhaps get the Air India JFK ground crew familiar with the 777 since, apparently, come August the 777-200LR will be introduced on nonstop flights to JFK from India.

Haha, that would be some expensive training. I would think they might try to work a deal with other carriers or just bring them to EWR?

Gordan may have a good point here, they might want some real life testing of the aircraft at JFK.
