    New York Auto Show

I'm going to the New York auto show at the Javits Center this Sunday. Sunday is the last day and I wanted to know if anyone was going?

Oh, it's an AUTO show! I heard it on the radio and since I didn't see the words, I thought it was a show for people named Otto.

I will be unable to attend. Stinks.

I could have gone to the press event last week but decided not too, though some of my coworkers did. I heard there are some really cool things going on there!

Will likely go with a few friends on Saturday or Sunday. Should be interesting this year.

I used to frequent the show every year but since I've moved to Poughkeepsie I haven't been.

Take the Train Stuart. The weekends especially the last are always mobbed, plus there is nowhere to park over by the center. Havefun, should be good.

    Auto Show

I will probably go on Saturday with my neighbor. I usually go every year--but last year was expensive for me. I went as usual, but within a month had 2 new cars--my Infiniti and my wife's Lexus Hybrid.

At least I got a tax credit for the hybrid.

This year I am leaving my wallet home. My daughter is getting her license in May, and I keep telling myself not to buy her a car until she's done with college. Then again--the thought of loaning her a $50K car doesn't sit well with me either.....
    It's the fares, stupid

Just don't get stabbed or shot there! In recent years, the NY Auto Show has been a "haven" to gang activity, with the NYPD last year recommending businesses around Times Square shut down on and around Easter due to the associated violence... This year so far hasn't been too bad, with I believe one reported stabbing on 7th Avenue yesterday (associated with gang members coming from the NYAS).

It also appears that that "melee" up in New Rochelle the other week, was started by gang members who were refused entry into the NY Auto Show, and rode up the MNRR train to New Rochelle...

In all of my years at the auto show and at the boat show there I have never witnessed any violence or anything.

Yea it's really not that bad. It all depends on when you go. A lot of the gangs use sometime around Easter to initiate new members etc, and what better place than Midtown Manhattan and Times Square to do so?

I think that most of the "bad" associated with the NYAS is probably already over by now though...

Gosh, last time I attended the NYAS was 1990 when they first brought out the Batmobile.

WOW, 17 years ago... The "new" Batman came out 1989. How time flies.
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

Haha I think that was the last time I went before last year. Last year I didn't have fun at all...too crowded. I could have gone during the media preview this year but I didn't want to at all...I guess I'm just not into cars like I used to be, and they don't let you touch the really neat concept cars anyway.

So is it only me but what does gangs and a car show have to do with one thing or the other and how did Easter get tossed in the mix?
