US/EU Reach New Open Skies Deal

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17421640/

"While details of the pact were not released, it is intended to allow European airlines to fly from anywhere in the EU to any point in the U.S., and vice versa, while shedding rules that restrict how much carriers are allowed to charge fliers."

Hm, wonder if this will bring any interesting routes. For example Air France from LHR to JFK.

    There are rules?
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

I'm guessing these are the anti-collusion rules that apply to co-scheduled, co-revenue, co-everything routes, like UA and LH on the IAD-FRA sector, or the rules that forced BA and AA to keep some of their trans-Atlantic operations separate (like the no cross-earning miles bit).

The one impact that popped into my mind instantly was getting rid of the Ireland bilateral that seems to have the effect of heavily clamping down on the market.

So wait, is this essentially disbanding the Bermuda II LHR restrictions?

I'd like to see DL get into LHR, they've been wanting to for a while.
