Prince Charles - NY & Philly

I see where Prince Charles and Lady.. are into NY and Philly today.

    Anyone know what they're flying?

They flew commercial because an environmental group was hounding them to stop leaving their "carbon footprints" I think is what they said, so my guess is BAW. The prince also canceled a skiing trip because they said he flies too much on his jet.

I'm sure the Prince uses a private jet no more often than the typical London or NY-area hedge fund manager. I am all for environmental responsibility but it is just silly of these groups to make an example of this guy while hundreds of rich guys you've never heard of are doing exactly the same thing at HPN, BCT, etc.

Then again, the UK environmentalists are quite militant and they also went after Eos when it launched for generating a 757's worth of carbon with only 48 seats, which led to Silverjet now including a carbon offset credit charge in the price of each seat so they can claim to be carbon neutral.

the real funny part is that he is coming to receive an environmental award from Al Gore tonight, while this group is saying he's ruining it. here's a link

AUH, the reason those gys you don't know get away with it is because nobody really know sho they are. very easy to hound a very public figure.

i could understand them flying BA across the pond, but as the person working the shuttle tonight pointed out, who did they fly from PHL to NY?
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

Perhaps having experienced Amtrak, the Prince and his handlers will come to better understand why more Americans don't take the train! May well take him longer to get from Philly to Penn Station than it did to fly LHR-PHL.

Whose train was that? Amtrak? The passenger cars looked red. I wonder if the interior was luxurious.

I'd heard (via a railroad forum) that the train was going to be a few private cars (from private owners) pulled by an Amtrak locomotive. I've never been on any private car, but I hear they're quite nice. They sometimes move tacked on the back of a regular Amtrak train; an all-PV (private varnish) move is more rare.
