New SXM terminal opens tomorrow officially Nov 10

So who is going to the festivities? Anyone from here?

KLM is flying in the A 340 and MD-11 and AA brought an MD-11 out of the desert for the festivities! (I can dream, can't I?)
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

I departed the day before it unoffically opened. It looks like a nice Terminal and anything beats the little box of a terminal that it is replacing.

While the new terminal will be nice I will personally miss the good old days of getting off using airstairs and using the tiny terminal. It gave the "small paradise island" feel. Now it will be like arrving (to a certain extent) at any airport.

    Just my 2 cents...

I feel the same way. The old terminal gave the airport the very islandy feel that it should have. Even the air of the terminal seemed tropical and relaxing.

Although from the photos the new terminal does look quiet nice!

Here's the link to two photos of the interior:

In order to have access to all four gates the old terminal needs to be torn down, this will happen in the next couple of weeks apparently.
