Wide angle lens
I wanted to find out what people think about their wide angle lenses, as I'm looking to buy one. I'd love to see some descriptions and any advice is widely appreciated.

I have the Sigma Ultra wide angle 10-20mm, I'm very happy with it. What range are you looking for and what kind of camera do you have?

I like the Canon 17-40 on my 300D pretty well. It's plenty wide for my uses and the quality seems to be pretty good.
I wish that it was faster than F4 but couldn't spend the $$ on the 16-35.
Here's a recent shot taken at 17 mm

I have a Canon 10D and so far I was considering the Canon EF 28-135 with IS, the Canon 17-40 is also an option although a little costly. Canon EF-S 17-85 with IS seemed like an awesome choice but it's compatible with the 20D's and Digital Rebels, what a turn off.
Just going over some pictures taken with the 28-135 IS:

Now, this lens is a standard in my opinion, it's good for taking close shots and then, if needed, zooming further in. As for spotting the IS feature is a great addition. I'm just concerned on how this lens behaves when taking shots from an aircraft window, flight deck and cabin.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I have the Canon 20/2.8, and it's my lens of choice for shooting almost anything except airplanes. You really can't believe the field of view until you look through the viewfinder and marvel at just how much is in there. One of the things that's been holding me back from buying an EOS digital is that the 20 will become a 32 after the 1.6 conversion, which is pretty much going to force me to buy an even wider lens. The 20 makes for some nice airshow static shots, too, think of getting right up close to a wingtip and still having the whole fuselage in the frame, or that AA 757 shot that Phil referenced in the "Love this photo" thread.
The other fantastic use for the 20 is never having to say "now scrunch a little closer" when taking pictures of groups of people!
