Several of the local news stations ran fairly long stories on tonights 2200/2300 news but the two I watched did not mention or show the Concorde.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. I thought that since the Concorde is on a separate barge, that it might still be put somewhere to be displayed. Then again, they might make it a great time to do a service on her (heck, why don't they stetch her legs and take her for a flight for NYC Aviation forum members - that would be a hoot).

cbs880 did mntion Concorde as well as the barge.
Glenn might be onto something. Guys, thjis is just a thought, but supposedly this Concorde has taken a bit of a beating and needs tending too.
OUt of curiousity, would anyone be interested as Volunteers for sprucing this bird up?? Just a thought.

The worst thing they could have done was to put the Concorde at the Intrepid. Planes are stored in Arizona, Nevada, and California for a reason not next to salt water. I'd love to help clean her up but I'm sure they have a professional company handle it who understands how to preserve her under the conditions she exists in.
While I agreee, the thing is, NY really dserves a Concrde, right? I mean if you factor in the AF and BA Concordes and their destinations, JFK was the sole biggest receiver for Concorde flights and without NY, Concorde would not have been.
Future plans for Intrepid are such that Concorde will be enclosed and on solid land, when that time comes.

It should be on dry land and enclosed in perhaps some sort of glass structure. That way it will still be visible from the outside but will not be susceptible to damage.
