China Eastern coming to JFK!
Starting December 9th China Eastern will begin a non-stop flight between Shanghai and JFK with an A340-600!
They'll be using Terminal 1.
MU 587 PVG 1830-1945 JFK MoWeFrSu 346
MU 588 JFK 0100-0520+1 PVG MoTuThSa 346
From January 9th to March 31st the flight will be reduced to a 2x weekly flight and will be capacity controlled for the duration of the winter season. The flight will operate on Mondays and Thursdays.
Pretty exciting if you ask me!
Can't wait to see their A340-600's at JFK.

Based on the times though it sucks for photography...
1945 arrival and 0100 departure? in winter? UGH!

PVG nonstop is going to be very convenient for business travelers, but how is MU's brand awareness and reputation outside of the ethnic market? I would think that if CO starts this route from EWR they would have a distinct advantage, namely their quality reputation and huge base of FF members in the area. Still, in a year we are losing Biman and Argentinas it's good to see another new foreign entrant to the NYC market.
