The BBJ's were the first 737 series to have the winglets. If you are referring to an airline, that I am unsure of....


As to first airplane, that may have been one of the Gulfstream type aircraft.

I believe it was WN, here in the U.S. They're first 700s went back to the factory so to speak and had then installed. The new 700s come with them installed already. Interestingly enough the first 700s also had to have their wing strengthened to support the winglet.

A310s & A320's (not counting the new winglets coming out) do not have winglets, they're actually wingtip fences ;)

Hmmh Haapag-LLoyd was the first airline to commercially fly a 737-800 with Winglets.

So im guessing HL was the launch customer for the winglets, then CO and ATA and AA followed with Ryan Air for the -800?

Then as Tom stated Southwest was the launch customer for the -700.

However the -800 got winglets before the -700 did correct?
