    LGA Departures Stopped?

According to fly.faa.gov departures are stopped at LGA. It does not look like there is any significant weather.

    Is anything up at LGA???????

    Just wondering.

I think this is a military stop, due to the departing fighter jets.

I received a call from a friend who got scared because he saw some fighters circling Manhattan. He thought I'd know what it was about and I let him know about the F-18s in the area.

Been working Ramp Control since 1300 and have not seen any stops, we have long lines. as of 1645L they are about 25 for 13 and 2 for 22 in line. The F-18's made an impressive and very loud departure around 1545 !

Due to TSTMS ENRTE, traffic is experiencing Gate Hold and Taxi delays between 1 hour and 1 minute and 1 hour and 15 minutes in length and increasing.
TSTMS ENRTE? The closest storms are in Maryland and not coming anywhere near LGA.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

Yes indeed they did, I was spotting at the Marina from 2:50 till the 3 Super Hornets departed at around 3:45. One at a time and banked knife edge right over my head. Thank you for the heads up LGA777. I heard on the scanner to hold 13 departures for like 2 minutes but that was 20 minutes before the Rhinos departed, so who knows.

hour-long taxi times are normal between 1500 and 1900. it varies on exact times, but when i work nights i get constant phone calls from dispatchers and other stations wondering where airplanes are...

and the f-18 departures just made me want to go to the SNS airshow even more!
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

If someone sneezes at LGA they shut one runway down, or issue gate holds.

at LGA, if a bird farts, they either change runways or issue a go-around.
