Delta to start LAX and LAS from LGA

Delta announced today it would begin Saturday only service to LAX and LAS from LGA using Boeing 757 this summer. The release didn't mention whether or not there was a stop involved. Now maybe I missed it but isn't the perimeter rule still in effect? Or does Sat only departures fall under some special exclusion?

Thanks Mike, I wasn't aware of that. Delta is certainly making their stand in the New York area.

Wonder if this is part of the Integration of SONG into mainline, while it wasn't a SONG flight it was a song city between them both and they may utilize the ex SONG 757 on those flights?

and yes as said Saturday any airline can fly anywhere from LGA within the United States with exception of HNL and ANC??

I've been wondering why we don't see anyone taking advantage of Saturday's exemption from the perimeter rule. Nice to see Delta trying it out...very weird to see these airport pairs, though!

Here're the schedules, effective June 10:

Flight 1663 departs LGA at 9:00a, arrives LAS at 11:30a. 752
Flight 1662 departs LAS at 12:30p, arrives LGA at 8:20p. 752

Flight 1643 departs LGA at 8:45a, arrives LAX at 11:40a. 752
Flight 1644 departs LAX at 12:35p, arrives LGA at 9:05p. 752

They did a nice job with the times, too. I would definitely snatch this up if it weren't $500 RT...

Like Alex, I also wonder if they have any intentions of placing ex-Song aircraft on this route, or if that'd be just a hit or miss kinda thing.

Thanks for posting Tom, this was a surprise to me, checked in Sabre and both routes show all coach 757's or former Song aircraft !

    Thanks Again

ATA tried SFO nonstops on Saturdays from LGA if I recall, and it was discontinued, not sure why. It's a good idea but I doubt AA or UA will respond. The appeal of the "business traveler" leaving from LGA isn't a factor there since it's a Saturday, and all those "businessmen" would be traveling from home, which is usally LI or NJ.

ATA's SFO flights weren't nonstop, they were daily flights with a stop in IND or MDW I beleive. Never understood why they did SFO and not LAX.

Actually Tom they where, the westbound left around 1130 off a MDW inbound, the eastbound arrived around 1630 and made up a MDW departure. Only lasted around 3-6 months !

I think ATA cancelled the route becuase they needed the 757s on other routes.

This will go on IF delta pilots do not walk out.
