Already registered, thanks :-)
And Manny comes in dead last place, with a time of 52 hours, 4 minutes. Single-handedly causes massive delays at JFK. Eventually, his 28TB of card space is exhausted, and he finishes the race
Oh Cary, it would only be about 64GB on two SanDisk 32GB cards because the D800 files are 45MB  I actually plan to take a lot more pictures than even walking! lol... but I will make it look as IF I am actually enjoying the run lol. You coming?
Well ..... I will be moon walking at a snails pace and may even stop to watch the turtles cross the runway. I will be cheering Manny and telling him to slow down for going too fast ..... It's not a race, it's a marathon! Registered.
I will be going to this! Definitely going to be a great group outing!
I'm in for sure .. And I will be bringing Max (with the stroller) more of a reason for me to just "walk" :)
OK, so no one wants to try and kick my ass then. Rock on. Guess I'll try to beat my time at the LGA run.
Talkin smack is fun
William, maybe William (woz) will take you up on it. I am putting $1 on Woz
I'm gonna win, though the last time I ran in this thing I got injured and was taken for a ride in a port vehicle. :)
Hmmm, that may work LOL
I have never done of these "races" before, but going by the talk, it is basically a long walk on a runway that happens to afford an opportunity to take many pictures from an unusual location or angle? and to boot, they toss you a free T shirt? Sounds like I may have to attend.
Manny, I saw Megatop's time from the LGA run... you lost your dollar and your lens for a weekend
Can someone post some pics from a previous run? I like to see what kind of opportunities are out there on a closed runway.
If you go to the link that is posted at the start of this thread there is a link to photos once the other site comes up
I love their logo - "Run for your lives! A 747 is going to land on you!"
I know but I think it may provide some sort of perspective. From looking at the photos it seems like the run takes place on a taxiway near where the Port Authoriy practices their rescue operations which is located between the 22s. Take a look at the galleries for 2003 and 2009.....wow!
Woz can help with that... I think he got some from LGA run...
The jets that are close up appear to be static as there are cones visible in some of the 2003 pics. There are some jets that were flying over the crowds, which does offer a nice perspective. I also noticed a timer in the 2003 that some took over an hour to complete the race, do you think that they'd be upset if a certain group of people with cameras took several hours to complete the race?
Static displays are fine with me, and with some good morning light it should be even better. I should consider getting a stroller for my 500mm lens to tag along side of Kaz. I am thinking of bringing my 24-120mm and 70-200mm with a teleconverter for some long shots.
Mark, I got that extra stroller if ya need it
Ok, let me put my two cents in. The usual location for this race is way down at the end of 13R. you start behind the hanger and make your way to runway 13r where you run maybe a little more then a quarter of the runway and you turn around. you may see a couple cargo jets and that's about it. You are nowhere near the active runway. A couple years ago they held it by 22's because of runway construction. And one year it was the runway run that was not, they held it on the JFK Expressway service rd. The first year I ran it which was in a down pour they had a jetblue E190 waiting at the midpoint of the race.
You can bring your camera's and equipment but remember you are walking 3 miles be prepared for some back ache afterwards. They do have a pretty good raffle after then run. Nice prizes given away.
The first year I ran. I sucked. came in 130th.
130 11/11 Eric Dunetz 28 M Oceanside, NY 53:52 17:21 53:37
Eric, I will beat your score by perpetuity... I will likely NOT finish :P
Thanks for the info Eric it does help. I won't be running but a nice slow stroll down the runway. 3 miles ...... No problem!
Pics from the LGA 5K last October. Took these with my phone, most while running.

Putting this on my calendar. About a 1% chance I can make the logistics work
I'm in. I imagine my camera bag will slow me down big time.
