Earlier today (6/3) we saw the C-17 arriving at JFK (see was sitting by the triple hangers as well).
TFR starting at 1600L (4pm) He'll be in shortly after that.
He'll be here 6/4 AND 6/14.
Are you sure he is coming today? I thought it was just the First Lady coming to NYC today....
I wonder if the plans are going to change for the 14th as well. The tower had a pretty decent fire Sat on the 89th floor.
Check this page later... it will refresh to yesterday until the day's schedule is posted. Right now it is still showing 6/3

Ugh. I'm currently 0-2 with AF1, both times in poor conditions. This is temping, but I will probably pass and wait for a day with better (any) sun.
The article makes it sound like it wasn't a big deal but from what I heard, this thing could have gone bad real quick. I've heard a few guys describe it as being similiar to Deusch Bank conditions at one point & they couldn't get water up to the fire floor due to Stand Pipes not being connected/done.
That being said, from the article, it still looks like they're still expecting POTUS to visit on the 14th.
After getting smacked last time with a 31R i aint goin!
Air Force 1 will land 31R.
I'm gambling it's 31R, so I will be watching from home. Approx 20 mins from now.
31L being swept right now.
did AF1 land yet?
He better have if he is to make his schedule

I didn't even realize he was coming in today. My post was for the 14th
I got it. Landed on 31L.
I was pissed because everyone else was landing on 4L, so I guessed (wrong) that they would come in on the normal pattern. I heard it coming from behind & got some (almost) overhead shots. Sucks, because I had the city w/the freedom tower in the frame for 4L & the sky was sick today.
I'll post when I get home.
Where I was set up, hoping to see AF-1...
http://img809.imageshack.us/img809/6599/processed68.jpg. Very Angry Skies but was able to catch a couple 380's in the same shot.
I was scrambling & was lucky to get these.

Nice shots regardless on an awful day, especially of the double a-380s.
AF1 spotting tips:
--When trying to capture shots of Air Force One, concentrate on AF1 and pay no attention to whatever JFK ops are doing nor to any other planes
--Use a scanner. Listen to NY Approach first. When she gets handed off to Final Approach or to Tower, switch accordingly.
--AF1 is usually much faster approaching the airport than any regular airliners. Times are compressed.
--Use LiveATC to listen to the departing airport and track her as much as you can via LiveATC.
--When she makes first contact with Approach Control, she will announce the RWY preferred. Unless a miracle happens, Tower will honor any runway requested. Likely arranged ahead of time and likely an SS agent is standing next to the Tower controller
--Get rid of family and ALL friends if you are really serious about catching her. Otherwise, follow one of the likes of Moose, Eric, Senga, Tom Turner, etc.
Also, 10-15 minutes before AF1 lands, one of the Port's airfield ops vehicles will do a sweep of the runway. Clearance to enter the runway is given via Ground (since typically the runway is removed as an active once the sweep is about to begin and restored as an active after AF1 arrives).
I was trying to feed BigTim the info from ATC and we were too busy catching. My bad.

I brought my mother over to Inwood Park on Monday to catch the arrival. There was a secret service car parked on the grass about 20 feet away from us and they never said a word, I'm beginning to think having her there helped my cause
I was actually at the Inwood Marina. Got some funny looks but nobody said anything until after AF1 had flown over. Not the greatest spot for shooting as the approach is pretty overhead. Next time I'll go to the park.

Mothers and kids always help!!
Poo, I won't be able to make it today. That makes me 0-4.
I just hope they are late. I have a meeting ending at 4:30 so it will be interesting to see if I can get there in time
