F-35C First Catapult Launch
-
almost seem more dangerous doing this then off a carrier.
-
She looks a tad unstable. Cool video though.

Gese....already you want to get that argument started?
-
i was half-expecting them to lock in, then do a vertical takeoff as a joke. Pretty badass though regardless.

Just curious, how is the spotting there? It's only about a 90 minute or so ride out of Long Island? Has anyone ever tried it? Thanks.

to make sure that the aircraft does not creep forward out of the cat when at full power, when the cat is popped the added force will allow the jet to release... if the jet creeps forward a foot or so an then the cat launches, it would rip the nose gear off.

From what I know, you can't get anywhere near that runway or base :-( I think you can see part of a superstructure from the road but I could be wrong.

In the old days, they used a cable from the cat to the gear, now they have it on the plane in order to always have a match
Here is a decent look at the old system on an F-14

LOL. Maybe because of the black and white video, but it doesn't look too bad:biggrin:
-
It looks like in the black and white video they left out the bar in question....that is what it is suppose to prevent!

Thanks Manny,
I figured there was no view of the runway or anything on the base. I was just wondering if the F-35 was in the air would it be visible from around the base, not that I have any extra time to head down there.
