Does this mean we need to register and pay for each day of the convention too? Or are we okay with just the tour tickets?

I had the same question myself and emailed them last night. The answer was in order to be eligible for the tours, purchasing the "full registration" was a prerequisite.

Not a stupid question at all Cary. The tours are only for registered convention attendees so yes anyone wanting to do even one tour needs to also register for the convention, I believe that part is $50. However that will among other things give you access to the "HUGE" trading floor of the memoriblia show.

Also keep in mind that these tours all leave from the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, based on every ramp tour I have ever taken at these conventions you will board a bus at the hotel, and once arriving at say JFK the same bus will be doing the ramp tour with Port vehicle escorts and likely a Port person on the bus. So lets say you live accross the street from JFK and you want to do only that tour you would still have to get to the hotel in Newark to get on the field at JFK.

Ahh, thanks for the help guys. I've signed up for EWR and JFK (pending my "full registration"), so hope to see some of you there!

I would also like to mention that registration will get you a very cool goodie bag, full of all sorts of fun stuff. I'm familiar with the contents but am not allowed to say!

The registration and everything seems like a lot, I know. Whenever I myself organize events, I like to do what I can to keep costs low so it doesn't prevent some people from enjoying it. HOWEVER, I want you all to know that the Airliners International Shows are like the World Series of the hobby...and the NY show will be one of the best yet I think! SOOO many people, photo contests, model contests, the many tours and more. I really do recommend you come out.

Having this locally is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and I hope everyone can take advantage.

I'll be making another, more detailed posts about it all this week.

I'm moving back to NY in July. Is the convention in NYC?

I wonder why there is no option to buy more then 1 ticket. I am def. purchasing one for myself but my friend wants to go too. I wonder if this will form a conflict when I purchase to tickets since it's from my paypal account which means my name will appear twice.

I just purchased the $50 JFK Tour via PayPal. I have my confirmation of payment from PayPal but what happens next?
Are the Tix mailed, Do I receive a confirmation from the people hosting the tour, something that says I have clearance! :lol:

I believe that when you go sign in they'll either give you a ticket or just let you on the bus!

I am confused about these tours. Are photos allowed? Isn't it a breach of security to allow ticketed people to walk around the ramp areas of these airports? Do visitors need security clearance? Do visitors have a choice of times? In the early morning, there are hardly any aircraft to photograph and in late afternoon, the ramp areas will be very congested so I doubt if there's any room for tours. Who is giving these tours? I recall complimentary tours given by the PA back in the late 70's.

I have registered for the JFK tour. It is $50 for the Registration which gets you into the Hotel for the convention then another $50 for the JFK tour. The bus leaves the Hotel @ 8am and brings the group to JFK escorted by The NY Port Authority. You need to pay with PayPal as I spoke with a rep and it is the way all your info gets logged. You will need Photo ID the day of the tour. He said photos are allowed. The Invoice and Approval is sent to your home and you will need to bring it the day of for proof so they can match it on the manifest. Is anybody else here going?

The tour is specifically for photo taking, so yes, you are allowed ot tkae photos. This is done with a specific guarded, guided tour on the ramp. They bring to a certain location, you get off the bus and stand in one spot and take all the photos you want.

I'll pass on the tour. I don't have a car so it's a hassle getting to EWR for the hotel part. I'm content with the annual Kids Day at LGA which sounds basically the same. I don't like having someone stand near me telling me what photos I can and cannot take. I know you guys will post great photos after for me to see. Since the tours are in the AM, the aircraft I would want to see won't be there until late afternoon. Due to congestion, it would be impossible to have tours at that time. Have fun! I took a similar tour back in the 80's. It was held by the MTA. A bus took us by the Air France Concorde at the now demolished old IAB. We were also allowed to take photos/videos but could not wander away. We also visited the US Customs to hear a lecture on security and equipment. It was nice. I think it cost about $10.

No one would be telling you what photso you can't take. If you're on the tour, you take any photos you want.

We plan to visit New York that week -- so perfect. The PA LGA Photo Tour at Marine Air Termina sounds perfect for us - thanks for the heads-up.

Any idea of which ramps will be visited during the tour at JFK? I would be surprised if guests would be allowed to photograph ramp operations around international terminals due to hightened security these days. My guess is that the tour would stop by the ramps at Jet Blue, Delta,AAL, and UAL.

There will not be stops near airline's or terminal's ramps. There will be only ONE stop, alongside the active runway, for eitehr landing or departure photo opportunities.

I am interested in the spotting tours at the 3 airports..What ticket selection do i make.

This was bound to happen you know. They probably had to pull some strings to even get the PA and TSA to allow it to begin with.

Anyway, Phil, (or somebody), is it known what the status is of the DC-7 coming to New York?
