Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
Great! So the 380 Emirates is not a normal visitor?
Are the Fokker 50 and a few Arvos still flying out of there as well?
Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
Hi Mirrodie,
Yeah the Fokker 50s of Skywest still going strong VH-FNA, B, D, H, I.
The images were taken just near the Runway 21 threshold, great thing about this spot is you can get them landing almost overhead then get them taxiing out for take off.
The EK A380 A6-EDE was operating Dubai - Sydney; but it diverted to Perth after a female
passenger on board suffered from apparent stroke! It later turned out she was sufferring from
a bad virus. There were 455 on that flight that were extremely jacked off as the aircraft had already been delayed 6 hours prior to departing from Dubai! Several pax were caught smoking within the terminal and were threatened to butt out immediately or be arrested! Then there were catering requirements issues, crew out of hours (new crew flown in) and the list just goes on & on. It finally departed for Sydney some 10hrs after arriving here in Perth. But all that said it was fantastic to see it & so quiet I hardly heard the thing take off!
Cheers Hiflyer
Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
Those pics were all great, thanks.
What yanks my chain about the diversion & those psgrs, suppose it was one of them what would they want to happen.

Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
THere's the little FOkker! Thanks for sharing!
Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
Its my pleasure Mirrodie,

Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
Hi, surprised to see Garuda uses 737 to Perth. I thought the distance is quite far and the demand is large enough to justify widebody jets.
Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
I always look forward to your posts.....especially as I get an added bonus of Kate Beckinsale to boot!
Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
Awesome pictures, the red of the Virgin Blue aircraft go well with the sky :)
Do you know what the DC8 was doing in Australia?
Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
Love it! Hey, are the NJN Avros still out there?
Always enjoy it.
Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
Hi PierreZRH,
Here's a few more of Virgin Blue's aircraft: Embraer 190 & B737s

The DC-8s that frequent Australia usually transit thru Perth en-route from
Mauritius to Melbourne, usually they for the transportation of thorobred race
horses. We have had airlines such as MK cargo, ACE Aircargo,as well as Dubai
Air Wing B747-2B4B (SF) A6-GDP pass thru here as well.

The Bae-146s & RJ-70s were previously operated in Perth under the National Jet
banner, they have since changed their name to Cobham. The livery retains the
former National Jet tail with added light blue 'Cobham' titles just behind forward
doors of the aircraft on both sides.
Fleet consists of the following: See link below:

Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
Very nice work, Hi... Keep 'em coming!
Brian
Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
Love to see those Bae146s. You get some unique stuff out there!
PER was fun to spot. Last time out, only wanted to catch the Socceroos plane, which I did get on my first day of arrival at SYD.
But the bonus was seeing VH-VXB with an hour of leaving Perth and Australia, right at the trips end.
Love the PER updates. And do not change the avatar! ;)
Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
Hi Mirrodie & all,
Thankyou for taking an interest in our airport here, we live in the most isolated capital city in the world which does attract some very interesting aircraft from all over the world. Of which
one happended to drop in today, arriving at 11.00hrs (WST) from Christchurch, New Zealand
was US Navy Boeing E-6A Mercury 163919 c/n 23892 using the callsign of 'Razz 087'. The last
E-6A to visit Perth was way back in June of 1998.
Here she is moments from touch down on Rwy 21 today.

Internationally acclaimed three time Grammy winners 'The Black Eyed Peas' today became part of music & avaition history as they boarded Virgin Blue flight DJ9001 from Melbourne to Perth where the cheeky Aussie airline & the Black Eyed Peas, created the 'Mile High Karaoke' cruising along at 41,000 feet.
In what is set to become an Australian first, the Black Eyed Peas, touring nationally in October will jam live during the four hour non-stop flight to Perth, ahead of their final Australian concert on Saturday evening.
The aircraft B737-8FE VH-VUA was specially modified for the mile high performance, with a team of more than 50 including engineers, technicians, and staging professionals transformed the aircraft into a unique venue.
To mark this special occasion nearly 140 VIP guests, including 30 winners from a nationally run competition joined the 'peas' for this once in a life time opportunity, the aircraft features a specially designed decal fitted to its fuselage. (see photos below)

I want to take my child to see some planes close up like this (actually, it's the child's idea, but I'm a pushover for adventures particularly if they involve minimal expense and provide photos for talking about later). We're going on our first aircplane flight together soon and the talk about "my airplane daddy!" is incessant :-)
I've had a look on google maps and I *think* runway 21 is the northmost runway? 24 is clearly marked on the end of the runway to the east, but the number's a bit blurry on the photo of the other runway near guildford cemmetary road. Where can you park to see the planes without getting hassled/ticketted? We're going to Jandakot for an outing this week but it's the big commercial jets that we want to watch fairly close up and take photos of.
EDIT: just did a zoom at the other end of the runway and 03 is clearly visible, so it is indeed runway 03/21 that I was looking at. Is it possible to access the end near where it's labelled 03 off Tonkin Highway? There seems to be a road going up near mile swamp there.
TIA!
Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
outrider sorry for the late reply!
Perth Airport's main North / South Rwys are 21/03 & East / West Rwys 24/06.
Rwy 21 'MOUND' area is still accessable about a 15min walk to get there walking along outside boundary perimetre fenceline and down a track & thru some bushland.
Be warned however that two variety of snakes habitat this area; Tiger & Dugite both are
venomous and their bites can be deadly! If a hot / warm day hat, sunscreen, water, is required.
Rwy 03 photos can be obtained from Kewdale Industrial area in Bradford Street (am) & Glassford Rd (pm) for arrivals. Departure photos not that good as aircraft too high & would be shooting right underneath!
Carpark near Gate 4 'Domestic side' of airport, you can park your car right up to near the fenceline and can observe arriving aircraft landing on Rwy 24, photography is possible thru the fencewire & aarrgh the smell of Avgas is everywhere.
Hope this helps a little & apologies for again for the late reply!
Cheers Hiflyer

Re: Perth Airport (YPPH) Australia
Isnt Jandakot like the busiest airport (GA) in Australia?
