I wonder what the Navy will be bringing in?

Who do we have to talk to at McGuire to get a KC-135 up here?
Good find. I'm very excited.
I hope a certain special visitor that was unable to come last year will be able to make it this year. [/annoying anonymous comment]
I concur.Quote:

Surprised to see Greenwood Lake having an airshow that weekend also.
Maybe someone has finally bought the airport and is going to improve it. The Connie up there has had a paint job recently, although it should have been repainted in TW colors.
gonna have to be Mr. Kroeppel. 707s and DC-8s aren't allowed to land here at LGA.Quote:

It's an "open house" out on the ramp at LGA. Usually, they will have several airliners on display that you can walk through, visit the cockpit, etc. The NYPD Aviation and PAPD usually have helicopters on display, along with the Skytypers, some of the other area warbirds, and a few military visitors. PAPD has had a couple of big crash trucks and other toys on display, NYPD K-9 unit did a demo. There offered free hot dogs and other refreshments the past few years.Quote:

Remember they got approval for one last year, and it would have been there had it not gotten rained out.Quote:

I hope I'm here for it; going to have to call my buddies from LGA for a ride...
I believe LGA received a C-17 a couple years ago as well.
Anyone privy to the tentative guests yet?
BTW, I plan on going in the afternoon with my son. Maybe the whole family.
But HIghheel's parents wanted to know exactly what it was and what is there. Not having been there, how would you folks describe it? What is there , what to do, etc? Is there an age limit?
Wait...you were there two years ago, getting old and forgetting things Mario?Quote:

I met up with you guys for dinner AFTERWARDS. Never once have I actually been to LGA kids day, never even set foot on the bus to take you on the tarmac.
So, how's it feel getting old and forgetting things?
My nephew will be attending! :)
Wait.....did we meet in the parking lot? I'm certain I saw you there!Quote:

So I may bring my family and in laws but not sure what to describe it as to the inlaws esp. as I have not been there. SO what exactly goes on there and what can they expect?
There were two or three airliners on display that you can walk through, cockpits included. Some local warbirds were on hand, including Warbirds Over Long Island and the Skytypers. A few military aircraft usually come in for tours also. PAPD had some of their big trucks and other toys out, NYPD (I think) had a K-9 team demonstration, plus free hot dogs, chips and water.Quote:

Ok, so how does this work? Time permitting (I've got plans to be drunker than ****), I'd like to check this out. Is there a specific place to go? Is it better to take public transportation? And how long should one expect to be at such an event? Thanks!
There is free parking in a designated lot, I forget which one, but if you enter the airport through the Marine Air Terminal entrance and make a left at the light, you'll see signs. The entrance to the event is through a small gate next to the PAPD building, where you board a shuttle bus which takes you to the fun.
Any word on aircraft? The usual AAL MD-80, DAL MD-80 & AWE A319?
Usually...Quote:

Some old warbirds are possible as well. Will post details once confirmed. A lot of stuff is a game day decision, due mainly to the fragility of airline scheds and old planes breaking down, so we really don't know what will show up until the day of the event.Quote:

Hey all...
The list I posed above is pretty much what your going to get Saturday. No other special visitors :(
We having something nice in the works as far US's display aircraft. I am not going to post in case something goes wrong but manangement in our OCC was very accodomating at re-routing the aircraft for us and is inbound to LGA now and will be on the Shuttle all day Friday. The only clue I will give is it has NOT made a previous kids day appearance. Assumimg this comes together I think most of you will be pleased at what we are bringing over !Quote:

Just want to add that 4-22 will be closed and based on forecasted winds good chance 13 will be in use Saturday making for some rare chances to shoot 13 arrivals.
The two F-18's are planned to arrive LGA on Friday morning between 1100-1200. I was told the crew requested in advance and recieved tentetive approval to do a "Very High Speed" Low Altitude fly by on arrival. This would likely be on LGA's active landing runway which based on forecasted winds is either 31 or 4. If anyone wants to try and catch this their ATC callsign will be Ambush 07.
I look forward to seeing many of you on Saturday.

When does the C-130 fly in
