A few AA birds to look out for
..a special Komen pink-ribbon decal is being applied to selected aircraft. The first two will be a B757 and an American Eagle Embraer.
Ultimately, eight aircraft will carry this special livery, one B757, one B777, and six American Eagle Embraer aircraft.
The decal itself weighs only about 50 lbs.; its estimated fuel cost is less than $700 a year. ( that is cool statistic.)
The rollout of the first two aircraft carrying this distinctive livery is scheduled for Monday, August 11.
Re: A few AA birds to look out for
how big is that decal that causes it to weigh 50 lb?
Re: A few AA birds to look out for
While I like the cause, I don't know how good the pink would go up against the bare metal scheme... I guess it'd look fine on the Eagle RJ's.

Re: A few AA birds to look out for
Wow, that's the closest thing to a new special scheme AA has had since the retros came out.
Re: A few AA birds to look out for
Wow I might ACTUALLY have to shoot an Eagle. EGADZ!
Re: A few AA birds to look out for
That'll definitely look hot on a 777!
Re: A few AA birds to look out for
Matt,
my first reaction was an audible "oooooohhhhh, wooooowwwwww!!!" whislt sitting near my wife.
Looks promising!!
Re: A few AA birds to look out for
Double wow! is that on N664AA? Thats a regular to SXM. :borat:
Re: A few AA birds to look out for
Copy cats.
Not saying the cause is worthy, just seems a shame to copy Delta. Althought DL has been hooked up with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation since 2006. AMR is supporting Susan G Koeman.
Again, not slamming the cause, but I think DL was first and the pink plane looks great.
Check out N610DL.

FWIW - I know a lot of people were saying that Astrojet's colors were looking old...I caught her at KFLL on Friday - seems like she's been repainted...

Re: A few AA birds to look out for
AFAIK, its the same astrojet paint as it was when it was delivered around 2000. Next time it goes in for a C-Check I'd be worried......
Re: A few AA birds to look out for
That looks very attractive to see! I will be on the look out for those planes next time I ride AA around!

i thought it was stickers, not paint. on an airplane that big what weighs more, a sticker or paint?

Re: A few AA birds to look out for
The Caption says this is the second Eagle, I have not seen the first one but here's how the pink treatment looks on Eagle.

This one is not one of the many Eagle RJ's that are regular LGA visitors, perhaps one of the other three will be?
Thanks AA

Based on standard routing I'd expect to see her back either tonight as 141 or tomorrow as 115 or 105. Having now seen the 757 and the 777 live this is the better looking one.
Re: A few AA birds to look out for
The 757 landed on 31 at LGA yesterday and was here again today and watched it depart 13, both in GREAT light and looked very pretty to me !
Cheers
