My used Panasonic FZ50 wannabe-SLR came today. I'm planning to be out pretty much all day tomorrow (depending on how early I can get up :) ) Anyone care to join me?
For whoever will be at JFK tomorrow try and catch Jet Airways as it is their first day of operations. I believe the ETA is 11:15am.
Where does one get 31 arrivals at that time of day? All of the reasonable 31L spots I've been to are afternoon spots.
(I was thinking about hitting the Worlds Fair Marina in the morning...I haven't been to LGA for spotting since the beginning of the summer.)
The Marina is not very good for LGA in the morning until around 11am at LEAST. The sun is at an awkward angle (high and behind).
Others might have some good ideas for JFK 31R arrivals in the morning. What terminal is Jet Airways using? If it's T1 they might come in on 31L.

I think Jet Airways is using Terminal 4 IAT.

According to Jet Airways' website, the scheduled arrival is 12:45, which is a pretty terrible time of day, sun-wise. I'll head out to Firestone and take my chances. You know how it is with a new camera...I just want to take pictures of something :) (And it has a 14-day return policy...)

Cargolux - I shot this one in RAW. All of my RAW pics were very noisy, especially compared to the JPEG my camera created for the same shot. Either my camera has a very good noise reducer, or I don't know what I'm doing, or both :)

Was there any shutter lag with your new camera?
I had a FZ-20 by the same branded and hated it! It had terrible shutter lag.

The lag that does bother me a bit is writing to the memory card...it takes about 2/3 of a second per picture for hi-res and over 3 seconds for RAW, so burst mode isn't terribly useful. Then again, I'm also not entirely convinced I need to take more than three pictures every two seconds, so I think it's a good tradeoff for the improved picture quality.

What time did that China Airlines Cargo 747F came in that day??
I normally would see it in the early morning. I did manage to snapshot a China Airlines Cargo at JFK departing in a late afternoon in the summer. Was it late?
just looking at the last Fed Ex DC10 and noticed the Titles are Fed Ex Express isn't that redundant?
