United Nations VIP Week2007 summary. Text and Photos
Greetings,
Below is the Summary for VIP week 2007 (62nd United Nations General Assembly)
In the seven years I have been out shooting the United Nations arrivals this year had the least amount of visitors. However I managed to pull off 13 new types throughout the 9 days I was out during the General Assembly. This year gave up a lot of BBJs and A319CJ. It’s too bad these planes are replacing older and much more desirable aircraft. The reward is not as satisfying but at least it’s something new. Two examples are the Nigerian 727-200 to 737-700 and Czech TU-154 to A319. The most significant shot for me this year was the Angola 707-300. This is definitely the shot of the year for me as well. It was nice seeing those who I met up with during my 2.5 weeks in NY. I look forward to meet up with the rest of you when I return. I’ll be back to New York from Florida during the first part of January.
Note:
I used previous VIP week shots of aircraft from USAF C-17, French A310, Poland TU-154, Saudi Aramco 767-200, Saudi A310 Brazilian 737-200 and Guinea and South African and UAE BBJs Italian, British G-NMAK A319 and Air Force One as my previous shots of those were better.
Also spotted in the Area from other photogs:
EWR Ethiopian 757, HZ-NSA, Polish Air Force TU-154, Saudi 777-200 N777AS
SWF Polish AIr Force TU-154

Great shots, Senga!
I really like your shots of the Presidential Helicopters!
Who came on the Aerolineas Argentinas and the MD-80?
Re: United Nations VIP Week2007 summary. Text and Photos
Senga - Just perfect.
The definitive list (for the 4th year in a row is it now?) and each year the images are even better than the year before.
I know how much hard work it is to do this. Always the highlight of the spotting year. Much appreciated!
Tom

Thanks for the kind words guys.
I am glad I came up for the UNGA as it turned out be be a good one. Its hard to be out there like that but it pays off in the end when you see the line up.
I should also thank Gordon for his SWF updates.
Bill Striffler for his continuous alerts to me about speicific movments.

Where is the German A310 landing at, Newark? I like that angle
Re: United Nations VIP Week2007 summary. Text and Photos
The GAF A310 was landing at 13L arrival JFK. The best shot was the side on but it didn't come out right. White was blown out.

Senga
which overpass?
i would really like to know because its seems that the picture was taken from a place very close to the runway and probably the only place that i could take good shots with my 70-200nm lens next week.
Re: United Nations VIP Week2007 summary. Text and Photos
It's not a spot that you can stop to take photos in, so I probably wouldn't plan on trying to take pics there.
Re: United Nations VIP Week2007 summary. Text and Photos
Great catches out there wuth all the VIP visiters :borat: I wish i had the time to be out there to catch these planes. Ive been very busy in the early afternoons to the evenings
Re: United Nations VIP Week2007 summary. Text and Photos
Thanks Delta777LR,
I thought you were in Atlanta?
amirshapira,
Phil is spoke acurately, That spot isn't not any place to be hanging around. I'd suggest not shooting there.

Re: United Nations VIP Week2007 summary. Text and Photos
Thanks Bill,
I'm glad I booked 2.5 weeks back home in NY. I origionally planned everything to start o the 18th but the times turned out to be incorrect this year. I'm glad I planned for an extra week sep12th-oct1st total. Might be back up next month again. Thanks for the assistance while I was in the field too.

Re: United Nations VIP Week2007 summary. Text and Photos
np senga, I really liked that angle for some reason and honestly the c/s on that aircraft are cheerful enough that I would even shoot it being non-airline.
Dang I'll have to content myself with the Qatar 340 and a KLD 73 down here. I guess that's Florida VIP week .. lol
Re: United Nations VIP Week2007 summary. Text and Photos
Yes, I like thoe GAF colors too. I liked the came colors but with the blue cheatline even more. This spot. Its my more fav spot of all the spots in JFKland. Too bad its not a place to really be :(

Re: United Nations VIP Week2007 summary. Text and Photos
yeah I've been there only once and from what I saw it's the nicest spot, basically you just gotta time the plane take the picture and leave, that sucks lol

Re: United Nations VIP Week2007 summary. Text and Photos
Thats true Mayi757,
The only time it was ok to shoot there since I have been in NY was when the concorde was in its last few days in NY. Everytime just before the Concorde would land you could go ask the cop on the overpass if you can sit there and get some pix and they were more than happy to let you. My Best Concorde shots were taken from that spot.

Re: United Nations VIP Week2007 summary. Text and Photos
All these photos are amazing, as a VIP aircraft lover I say : GREAT JOB GUYS ! :borat: Some of them are rarely seen, Turkmenistan 763, Angola 707, Kazakstan 762... Nice new livery for Venezuela 732, hmmmm Afriqiyah 342, I love this one, I hope I'll shoot it one day.
A319CJ CS-TLU is well known at LBG, ex-F-GSVU.
Why is UN not based at Paris ?
