I'll have to get there for that if I can! The confusing thing is though - on the a.net post, he said Tuesday Sept 29 - Sept 29 is Saturday - so...is it Tuesday...or Saturday....
again? why? maybe they're going back to the blue and white? hope so!
In the a.net thread there is a description by someone who has apparently seen it, feedback is not positive compared to the current but they are rebranding so perhaps want a more budget-oriented (i.e. less classy) image.
I think Nonstop2AUH hit the nail on the head, the current scheme is way to classy for the airline Spirit was and especially now what they have become. NK needs a livery much more trailer-parkesh than the current classy one. I could be wrong but I don't think a lot of us are going to like the new one.

I loved the blue, when they got the silver I didn't like it...
I have just started to like it.... AND THEIR CHANGING IT!!!
Well, thanks to me being in Detroit, I will have to look at it all the time, so it better be nice!

Thats really too bad. I happen to really like Spirits new livery! It was fresh and modern compared to some of the crap airlines are painting their planes these days. Sometimes it baffles me that airlines actually pay a company to design their new livery when the opinion is that it sucks. Oh well, I guess they will be following the rest of the parade into Euro-White Paradise?
Oyy
I wasn't a huge fan of the silver, as the paint itself just never seems to look good on ANY airline (like NW too). I will really miss the white/graphic scheme.
I'[m actually a fan of Spirit, and I'm hoping for this scheme to look good.
I love the current scheme, it takes such a good picture and is very classy. I'm sure NK will go to some cheap Euro white scheme.
For those interested in some backstory on the current Spirit livery, here's some info from Aerobrand who designed it. I had gone to their site thinking maybe there would be some teasers about the new look but no such luck, this is however kind of interesting :

I really wish I could find it, but there is a Powerpoint template that is identical to Spirit's logo. And the Powerpoint template came first.
This is too good:
Was? I think it still is.Quote:
Known Issues: Serious perception problems with customers. Research before the re-branding effort indicated the customer’s perception of Spirit was extremely negative.

This comes as a surprise to me...Didn't they just change to the current livery within maybe 3-5 years ago?
Yep, and it's sucked since 3-5 years ago. :D
I've been searching everywhere to try and find out where and when this is going to take place (where as in where at KFLL) - I've also tried to get hold of a contact at KFLL to try and find out for me where and when. I'm going to try and get there for the unveiling and get some shots (KFLL is 10 minutes from my office) - weather permitting as well.
Call the Spirit offices (not ticketing) they should be able to tell youQuote:

I don't like the color combination. Too many basic 16bit colors, you know?
Hmmm not sure what to think of this. I like that it has color but I'm not sure about how the colors flow...It does look "low cost" vs. modern and sharp but should take a good picture.
1 word....Blech!

This link has some real pictures of livery. I have to say I actually liked the now-old livery, and this new one makes me want to barf.
Ok, wow!
It's not as bad as I thought but I still really don't know what to think, it is just such a dramatic change!
The newold livery (silver) looked professional and not so cheap..
This new livery... It screams LCC but it isn't "eww" to me, I really still do't know what to think!
It looks like a flying bottle of laundry detergent for cottons. I am not sure whether to fly on it or put my underwear in it.
YUCK!
I hate it.
I love the current livery the way it is! :borat:
I second that!Quote:

Your expectations would be high if you saw a professional livery like the old Spirit, and then stepped on board and be shocked by it.
Now the livery helps "tone down" the excitement and shows wow it looks LCC, it must BE LCC.
I actually like it FOR ITS PURPOSE, but I did also like the old Livery.

Well for those who hate it, if u think it sucks now, I'm thinking the 321's will look much worse with the much longer length and nothing but more white added. I don't hate it but is a step backwards or two for sure, reminds me a little of the new US Nevada and Arizona schemes that where a big dissapointment to me. What I don't understand is since they are pushing the 4 colors of red, blue, yellow, and green why aren't there 4 bands of these colors on the rear of the aircraft reducing the white effect a little bit ? At least u can read the titles easily, though do not like where they put the reg. Ok I am done ranting now.

Yuck. Purely disgusting. Worse than Uzbekistan and that private Chinese 737 in vomit colors.
It is in Ny at this moement. Just pulled into gate 3 minutes ago or so.
The new logo reminds me of a toothpaste but I think the rebranding will meet the goal of 'lowering expectations' for a ULCC as it looks like something from Eastern Europe, perhaps more than it is evocative of the Caribbean or Latin America which is what it's supposed to be. The "old new" livery was kind of sophisticated, almost like something you might see on a more creatively liveried private jet. Anyway this is like the third or fourth marketing strategy Spirit has pursued in the years that I have been familiar with them which does not inspire confidence. However, don't underestimate them, they may well have figured out that if they focus on Lat Am/Caribbean routes and collect $10 per checked bag, they will make enough money to give tickets away!
Here is my so-so shot from Thursday in very hazy weather.

I like the colors of the New Spirit. I honestly wasnt too crazy about the gray and silver colors very much but ill be looking foward to catching one of these at LGA. Any idea when N501NK will be coming to LGA?
That livery is ridiculous!!! How can anyone take that airline seriously with that livery?
Sergio, it was here the first day of active service in the new livery. It passed through twice.
N501NK was at LGA again today Tuesday Oct 2nd again operating NK313 to DTW, a 1345 departure which means it (MAY) like last time return again at 1751 as NK320 then on to MYR and back to DTW to RON. Despite the overcast I think I got an ok departure shot off 13.
Cheers

It's pretty hideous, and I disagree with the people who have said that it's OK because they're an LCC. I don't see why they can't have their planes look classy and still be an LCC; the old livery looked great, and I can't imagine why they felt the need to change it. Did they think that people would see a plane in the old scheme and decided based entirely on that that the airline was out of their price range, so they needed to make the planes look like crap so people would understand it was a cheap airline?
Ewww... It's even worse than I imagined. It seems like the older livery is newer than the new one.
