Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
Over the years, I've taken a liking to the 310.
I think the flyby here is dangerously insane, yet I'm captivated by it. Comments?

Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
I saw this a couple of hours ago on Anet and my jaw just dropped when that thing makes that first bank. The wing is literally inches away from the ground!
-
Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
That bank was insane!!! That wing tip was way too close!!!
-
Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
Was he really allowed to do that? I wonder if TAP execs would be angry. But that is just amazing though.
-
Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
WOW! that third video's got the best perspective! that bank was insanely low, and why did he do it with the gear down?
-
Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
Wouldn't have been the first time TAP had a wing strike.... did it at EWR in 2003

Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
I agree with Phil I can't imagine that being sanctioned by TAP..very impressive but also very careless.
-
Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
Look at those photographers scurry about to get shots of her banking. We're such nerds! :-)

Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
I wish more commercial airlines got into the airshows. It's great publicity, why don't they do it? Even as static displays?
Heres a cool video of a Northwest 747-4 at Willow Run Airshow in 1992, including a low bank. Don't mind the newscaster who gets the engines wrong (NW uses Pratt's not the CF-6's)
[youtubetp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvE8pQkBvhc[/youtubeNow-a-days you don't see this sort of thing, and you also don't see too many televised airshows anymore...

Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
It looks like the regi on this bird is CS-TEX - although I could be wrong. Is it me or one of those pilots is gunna need a new uniform

It is possible.

Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
Just be thankful they didn't try to do a barrel roll..... only real planes can do that one.... :D
Putting aside its no 707 though.. I do have to agree with Mario.. the A310 has grown on me too.
I caught Arabasco at EWR a few days ago, and couldn't help wish we had a few more liveries to shoot of those types..

Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
The flaps are down for the lower stall speed. As to why the gear is down, perhaps the Airbus software won't let you deploy the flaps past a certain limit with the gear up, so in order to get the flaps at the ideal setting, the gear had to be extended as well.
But who wouldn't want to see the A310 dirty roll!

you're probably right. damn automated airplanes!!
mario, i've got to agree with you though. the A310 has a very unique shape to it. it does look pretty good in military colors:

Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
You guys are too fast. I spent 10 minutes looking for the shot of the TAP A310 with bent wingtip and its my shot. He landed on 22L, took out eight runway lights, taxied to the gate and didn't mention a thing, maybe he didn't realize it. Oh, by the way, the President of Portugal was on board. Eeek!
The video of the flyby is absolutely amazing.... That pilot definately deserves to go to flight school detention.

Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
Mario, thanks for posting, insane flyby, I wonder if the fans in the second video running to get a clearer shot thought they where about to witness and accident ?
Here is one of my favorite flybys from New Zealand, for those who have not seen it an already respected airliner is about to get even more respect from some of you I think !

Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
That is quite a climb, Ron.
I tried to do a little research into the A310 clip to see if perhaps there was some published reaction to the wingtip, but found nothing. Anyone else see or hear anything?

Re: Fantastic flyby of TAP 310
Actually I've arranged for AZ 610 to do a similar flyby at the start of the BBQ on the 29th ;)

Mirrodie:
Doesn't that sound like a speeding bullet, man those pilots are insane!!!!!! Maybe they are the same ones that took out the lights on 22L ;)
