With the show almost a month away I wanted to start some chat about who's going, FRG, etc, etc. Also curious if anyone else is planning to attend any other airshows on the East coast this summer?

i'm definately going. buddy of mine is on sean tucker's support team, so it's a bit obvious as to where i'll be.
sad news though, since sean crashed his chellenger he's going to be performing in a columbia 400 until his challenger is rebuilt...

I agree with you, I'm happy he will be performing though, Happy he's ok!
My plan right now is go to FRG the first day and the beach on the second day. I hoping the public will opt to do the opposite. The meet and greet with the Blue Angels is a lot of fun for the kids.
Stephen
I think I will do the reverse!!! Everyone will be there sunday as the word of mouth from Saturdays show gets around and will be shown on the news..... I want to go both days, but probably will do Farmingdale on Satuday unless the weather will be questionable. You can see me standing on my truck to look over the fence!Quote:

Yeah the crowds are always horribe on Sunday. Saturday I'll be at the beach all day, and Sunday ill be at FRG, regardless of when my employer schedules me to work! I'll be on the roof of my truck as well :D
When is it?
Memorial Day weekend. May 27-28th. Jones Beach, show center, field 4.
Well I'll be there bright and early with Fred, god help me. I'm hoping my lens is back from Canon service by then, otherwise I'll have to look to rent something. Lets try and get a good group together and represent NYCA!!
The Blue Angels will be performing on the weekend (27-28 ) but... The American Airpower Museum will have static aircraft and possibly some flight demonstrations from Friday the 26 till monday the 29... :)
it's too bad none of you will have the chance of having dinner with the Blue angels......
Ah that's alright while your eating we'll be on the ramp getting pics, LOLQuote:

Dam I wish I was off on friday!! The practice show last year was much better then the real show!
I am off Friday the 26th, Will be heading over for the Practice Airshow, If it is anything like last year you should have the beach to yourself.
yeah, I was there last year Friday and it was dead. I hope it stays that way with it advertised on the site.
Flying schedule is posted on the site.
http://www.jonesbeachairshow.com/
Thursday may 25th from 7am to 10am the Blue angels with be doing their photo flight over and around the city.
From noon to 2:45 the Heritage flight including F-15, F-16, A-10 and P-51 will be doing their photo shoot over the city and as previously mentioned the Statue of liberty.
For those of you who are off get your cameras ready, I want to see some Pics!!
we'll see what happens. I might just want to see their arrival. Might even try to shoot from our skylight in the office, or even the roof LOL
Does anyone know their take off time from FRG for that Friday? I think I'll have to take my lunch then.
Friday they are doing a full practice show at the beach, so I would check the website for the Sat and Sun time slots of each demo.
They will be doing thier practice show at the same time as they will be doing the real show (2:15). My guess for takeoff time on Friday would be around 2:00.
How is the light for photography? I would think that it's backlit with the sun to the south and the planes over the water, no?
Phil,
here are shots from Blue Angels two years ago.

depending on the angle of the aircraft, you should be able to get some good light.
Eric
I agree, the lighting isn't bad. Hope for bright sun, blue skies, try different angles as the day passes, you should have some good shots. As soon as I get a new computer, you will have an abundant amout of my photos. :D
Just drove by today out of curiosity. And the Red Bull MiG is already here!!! That is one clean, shiny bird
It looks like I'll be doing Saturday and Sunday, but I don't have a place to stay Saturday night... :-(
At times it could get a little annoying like hereQuote:
