I may have to take off one of those days.
Is it overnighting at JFK on the 22nd?
I wonder if it will come to LGA too. Hope so!
I maybe joining you also, keep hearing conflicting reports JFK or LGA. There should be at least one flight to nowhere for employees so you should have at least one additional landing and takeoff shot photo-op ! And finally in case you have not heard this how she should look !

AWW BOO HOO! i wanted to go for a spotting run...
who's going to be out at JFK on the 22nd or the 23rd for some Spirit of Delta spotting?
Eric
More then likely I'll be there the 22nd, I have a biz trip on the 23rd so the weather on the 22nd better be sunny!
I have a little update on the Spirit of Delta's visit to JFK. I made several calls this morning and after about 6 calls got the woman from the Delta Heritage Museum who is in charge of the tour. There has been a minor change to JFK on Thursday 2-23. The r/t short flight to nowhere will now depart at 0915 and arrive back at 1000, this will allow a ceremony, inside security at 0830, at Terminal 3, Gate 3. I went to Delta's website and looked, Gate 3 is on the east side, under the overhang, third gate from the street, if Gates 1 and 2 are empty shots from the street should be possible. I plan on being around on Thursday morning.
Cheers

I am taking off from work on Thursday, I will be in and around the Airport trying to get some shots.
Eric
i need to call delta, and arrange them to give AMA a plane, i mean come on , fine they ended service a few months ago here, that shouldnt stop them! ;)
N102DA is currently in delivery colors, they are buffing the body as I type this. For those of you who have never shot the "Spirit" in original delivery cs here is your chance.
Mike
I was told that they are only painting Half the aircraft...then I read it on another forum. Any truth to this?
Haven't heard that but can't say for sure if it's incorrect as I haven't seen the a/c myself. From what I was told, it's "now painted in delivery colors".Quote:

Thanks guys :)
Does anyone know if tomorrow's schedule is still the same? Thanks for any info.
i'd love for 102DL to come into LGA as an a/c sub. that would ust make my friggin day!!
Here she is this morning in ATL !

Far as I know the tour is on schedule, should be at JFK tommorow afternoon !
And Matt sorry to disappoint but as far as the aircraft sub to LGA Ship 102 is officially retired from service, after the tour is complete she will get significant interior mods before going in to the Museum !
Cheers

That's worth leaving work early for!!!! I'm heading out of work after lunch tomorrow, I want to be in position early, Does anyone know what the flight number will be into JFK? Alex will standing by to track her tomorrow, lol. Alex you better not lose her like you lost that DC-8!!!! I don't know how someone loses a plane that big!!!! LOL
Tommy, I will be out there around 2:30. It's supposed to be mostly sunny, with intermittent clouds, so it looks promising!
We should all remember that, if the 31s are active, Delta often comes in on 31L but sometimes comes in on 31R, thus making it kinda difficult to know in advance where to shoot from. So if the 31s are active, we should all be paying close attention to the scanners and listening to NY Approach to hear what runway its going to. I sure don't want to be that guy sitting at Costco watching Spirit of Delta float down to 31L. :)
This mornings flight ATL-MCO used a very clever flight number, DL 102, hopefully they will use this call sign through out the tour. If JFK is on the 31's tomorrow crew will probably request 31L so they will roll-out right in front of the DL Terminal as I would imagine many employees will be waiting for her !
I hope you guys have great luck tomorrow, I will be out on Thursday morning !
Cheers
Ron Peel
Looks like they will be using 102 for the JFK flights as well (and probably for the whole tour)Quote:

I will be out there between 2:30 and 3:00.
Everybody bring a scanner, we can all monitor so we don't miss it.
Winds are SSW right now, with arrivals on 22L.
Eric, what/where is that place you went to a few blocks away from the Mounds, where you got decent side-on shots of 22L arrivals without having to worry about ticks, mosquitoes and bees?
Brookville Park, If you walk to the center of the park there is an open area where you can get shots.
Eric
Where is Brookville Park?
And, do you think it is better than the Mounds?
Brookville Park is just east of the mounds, continue on 147th ave and it is on your left side if you would be coming from the mounds. If you were able to get up on the mounds I would go there. I would say Brookville park is like shooting from Burger King, same kind of angle.
Eric
Are the mounds accessible?
You can get to the mounds, that fence really isn't "closed" last I drove by. Lets hope they change runways before she comes in and the sun comes out.
