If you read his whole statement it shouldnt. He touched on the two big things that really bothered me....the selection of Palin as
the VP and the negative attacks by the McCain camp. I know both sides do that but McCains campaign IMO went above and beyond and
that junk just turns me off. It's the last resort of a loser. The thing is though McCain is an honorable, good person and I think he is being
manipulated by his campaign people to put out the negative stuff. At times he seems embarassed by it.
And you are right Phil. I love Colin Powell also and this is big, though the RNC guy on CNN this morning didnt think so. Man he tried to spin
it that it wasnt that big a deal. Yeah, okay.

I actually woke up this morning just in time to watch the interview on Meet the Press. I hadn't heard Powell speak for quite some time before this morning, and I was blown away by how accurately he summed up the current state of our country and by his excellent characterization of Obama. Anybody who is in doubt about their choice of candidate must watch this interview!

Wow this is pretty big..I was shocked when I heard this today. This might put the final nail into McCain's race.

Powell eloquently summed up what I've been thinking and saying for a long time now: The Republican Party is sick and desperately needs to clean itself up. It's been getting worse over the years and is run by a bunch of stupid ideologues who care not for facts, common sense and have a narrow vision of how to solve problems and their world views. Not to mention, this party has become so hypocritical when it comes to things such as foreign intervention and fiscal conservatism as well as individual freedoms. I'm very uncomfortable with the religious right calling the shots of the Republican Party.

I don't necessarily like Obama or his policies. He's way too left for me. But the Republican Party desperately needs introspection and a thorough cleansing and perhaps this will happen with them being out of power for a good period of time.

Worst kept surprise, media has been hinting about this for months... :mrgreen:

This endorsement is a strange one & I am tempted to call it an endorsement strictly on race, but, I will hold that opinion for now.

What I do like is how one minute Colin Powell was considered the house-negro in the President Bush Cabinet & now, the left is embracing Colin Powell.....

The attacks that were launched against Powell & Condolleza Rice were terrible....

I would have respected Powell much more if he had endorsed a 3rd party candidate, as the Democratic is not much better than the Republican party.

What scares me about a potential Obama presidency are the fools that will be riding his coat tails, namely: Sen Edward Kennedy, Sen. John Kerry, & even Daschle....

Obama has not separted himself from the far left loonies......

I'm not to concerned about Eddie boy...the fat bastard won't be around to much longer. Harsh statement, yes but he's a low life who got away with murder. Obama better be able to stand up to the party and put real leaders in positions or he'll be a one term President.

Maybe, but , things can't get much worse than the way they are now. Look at the "winners" Bush aligned himself with. Heck, look at who Mac aligned himself with! Phil Gramm and Carly Fiorina? The former is responsible for this economic mess and the latter was the most incompetent CEO in history. And they were his economic advisers?

But at least you're honest enough to admit the Democrats are not much better than the Republicans and the Republicans haven't done a good job the last eight years.

No one group is better.

Tom nailed it in another thread. We are stuck with few choices. I propose that if you can't vote on any on the available candidates, then there shoudl be a blank spot to vote for "NO CHOICE"

Feel bad for McCain, an honorable man who's campaign has dug at his morality. You can see it in the Wright issue. He's pulling punches when his team is telling them to play that card.

As for Palin, her only value is that she 'energizes' the camp. Well, if I needed a cheerleader/morale booster for the group, he could have called up Monica Lewinsky for that and still chosen a more appropriate running mate. :shock:

As for Obama and his left ways, hasn't history shown that most left leaders more more central once in office?
