T5 opening Monday with a special A/C visitor
With the official opening of JetBlues new T5 set for Monday we have word that we might get a special AC visitor for the opening. I officially cannot tell you what it might be yet but it will definitly be worth looking out for it. As soon as I get the official word I will post it here.
In as far as the festivities the official ribbon cutting is Monday @ 2:00 (Invitation only) and the after party from 3 on is also invitation only. There is a pre-party from 9-12 that will have the unofficial ribbon cutting and family and friends are invited.

JetBlue Palin will probably be in town next week, but I don't think that has anything to do with this...so my guesses are...
• Neeleman flies up in an Azul bird
• JetBlue 777!
Re: T5 opening Monday with a special A/C visitor
And yes I have to be vague. No its not Palin, although she is supposed to be in the NY area according to the papers, The Azul E 190 I havn't heard anything about that but hey who knows!! and not its not the 777. Its our new A 380. for really short hauls

Re: T5 opening Monday with a special A/C visitor
Are all JBU flights departing from T5 starting monday?
Re: T5 opening Monday with a special A/C visitor
No this is just the "Official opening". On Oct 1 at about 0530 will be our first departure.
Re: T5 opening Monday with a special A/C visitor
Unless its a TWA Connie to celebrate T5's history its not special! ;)
Re: T5 opening Monday with a special A/C visitor
Wow, didn't think of that, Tommy. Maybe a JetBlue/TWA hybrid scheme!
Re: T5 opening Monday with a special A/C visitor
My first thought was of the Connie. I crewed on the Connie when it came to JFK for TWA's 75th Anniversary.
I have pics of that beautiful bird at JFK as well as in flight. I also have a video, but since my hi 8 died I have no way of playing it.
Now THAT was an airplane!

There are no airworthy Connies still around, are there?
Maybe a TWA DC-3?

There are a few - one in Europe, one in Australia. I'm not sure of the condition of the one in TWA markings in Kansas City. I saw somewhere that it may be undergoing repairs, but the museum website doesn't say one way or the other. It's actually the only flying Connie that was originally a civilian aircraft, the other two are ex-USAF C-121s.
Re: T5 opening Monday with a special A/C visitor
You guys hit it on the head with the Connie. Thats what I was told by my sups that it was coming in BUT They were misinformed. Now from a more reliable source I heard that it will be a different Lockheed A/C and that it might even arrive tomorrow. Scratch off the 1011 and the L188 Electra as it wont be one of those..
