Heard on CBS88am this morning, the vintage planes are taking off and on to a trip to commemorate US Airmail.
Got no other details on types, etc.
Anyone else hear of this? Slated to stop in 15 cities.

I meant to post this the other day.. you have 2 stiermans and im not sure what the other one is.. but its the only one in the world of its kind.. its an old boeing air lines bi-plane.. from what i talked to the guys last night. there using the b-17 as the backdrop for pics.
Sorry... I have been beyond tired. Moose was out to get the shots as I was having to get my kids to school the exact time of takeoff. Lots of stories of wonderful aircraft. The oldest flying Boeing airliner (Biplane with interior)... the earliest flying Stearman.... No. 6 off the line. They are doing the mail run.

Its a Boeing 40, it and the 2 Stearman came through EWR's airspace airspace as Airmail 1 about an hour ago enroute to Cleveland. I'm trying to get some pics of them over the statue and the field from a helicopter that was in the area as well.
Bill
I hauled my lazy butt down to FRG just as they were starting engines.
Boeing 40-C, oldest flying Boeing aircraft.

Fred/Moose: Thank you both for documenting this historic event. Great coverage as usual.
Yeah....thats real great that they kept it a secret. I paid $$ to see the bombers on Labor Day you think that they would have had a sign up or something to let everyone know to come on down! I could have easily come down before work today!
People could care less about aviation today unless they're complaining about noise. What good does it serve to do all this re-enactment effort if no one knows about it? Newsday has an article about it today. A little late I think.
Thank the USPS...it was theirs to push.... I found out 3 days ago and had little info. I would have given you guys about a day notice but my plate has been full and I DROPPED THE BALL. Sorry
Wow that BC-40 is just breathtaking! Very nice catch there Moose!

Hey Moose that looks like Chopper 12 in the background there. Were they covering the event?
Yes, that's them. Most of the local media was out this morning for the departure.Quote:
