Even though this isn't airshow related, this little fellow made a surprise visit.

That Media flight video was actually taken 8 years ago, because sadly a year later in April 2007 the Blue Angel pilot in this video,
Lt. Kevin Davis call sign "Kojak" was killed during a Blue Angels performance down in Beaufort, South Carolina :frown:
Anyway, after #7 does a MAX climb takeoff at FRG for the Media Flight they usually head down towards the Beach
and then way out over the Ocean where they're able break the sound barrier during their 45 minute flight also.
Tried to get to the field for the arrivals but got there too late. Here are a few shots I was able to manage.

Also if they follow their usual show routine they will fly a practice demo sometime Thursday after they arrive[/QUOTE]
Is there any set time for that?
Ken
No, but a TFR is in effect today for Jones Beach between 0900 - 1500
Anyone know if Fat Albert has been in yet?
Just saw him buzz by.
Came in 14
Blue angels delta getting ready to take off from Andrews AFB
Cleared to land with carrier breAk on 14
Just flew over Old Bethpage in formation. BEAUTIFUL!!!....and not as loud as previous years.
Is there a schedule for everyone for the practice show tomorrow anywhere yet?
weather.com isn't that reliable. I used to work for the Associate Press, so I can tell you for a fact that ALL major news outlets use the data from Weather Underground to create their forecasts. Weather Underground is showing that we're going to have a beautiful weekend!

thanks chomidore3
Weather hold right now on the solos. Weather permitting all 6 Blue Angels will go up just after 1:30pm followed by Fat Albert.
The 737 will depart then too
73 is in.
@Danycam - That's my video, thanks for the credit!
I'm looking forward to tomorrow!
I haven't been out to FRG since last year, but just out of curiosity is it still okay to park along New Highway (as stand on my car) to catch the Blue's departures?
Or would other places around the perimeter be better for catching their takeoffs?
Yes New Highway is fine.
737 left early.
Do you know if they are taking off heading south over new highway or north over 110?
Are they using 14/32?
Right now there is no activity at all. The arresting gear is supposed to be put back on place at 1:30pm and there is nobody near it.
They are on 14 for takeoff a right now which means to the south
Arresting gear being readied.
Looks like 5 & 6 are getting ready.
Canopies up
@BlueAngels: @nyasinfo Pilots are not at the jets - they are currently still waiting out bad weather. We will update if it improves.
