When I arrived in the LGA employee parking lot at about 0430 this morning I noticed a primarily white wingletted 727 but it was nosed towards me, and looked like Peter Nygards which I assumed it was. But then late morning noticed it line for takeoff on 13 and realized it was this -200 !
Arrived the night before from Fargo (FSD) and departed for the long flight to SWF using a Ryan callsign.

Re: LGA Daily Report: JAN '08
I saw the aircraft depart about an hour ago, I believe it was heading for SWF. Nice looking bird!
The same flight was in SWF last week and I couldn't tell what 727 was operating the flight, I assume it was the same.

Re: LGA Daily Report: JAN '08
The AA Astrojet came is currently parked at D3. It came in from MIA as AAL1114 and will be departing back to MIA at 1035L as AAL 599.

a bit lacking in the details department compared to my other posts but today wasn't that bad a day for GA movements. we had a sabreliner depart, it made a nice long and shallow takeoff roll and climb. there's a G-IIB sitting by 5 towers alongside a nice avanti. we also noticed at least 2 citation Xs and a few more falcon 900s. while i was walking to my truck in the lot i was passed overhead by an all-black S-76. it had to be at least a C model, was too quiet to be anything else. i did notice a dark blue wing-type painting on the aft fuselage but could make out no tail number. was another nice quiet day, but i'm still glad i left early!

Miami Air 737 just landed on 4. N753MA is the reg and it looks like the old Miami Heat plane less the titles.

i'm surprised that no one posted this, but N727PN has been sitting parked next to VP-BDJ for the past week. on a similiar note, the APU is running and the rear stairs down on VP-BDJ so maybe we'll have a nice loud and powerful departure to watch later on today.

Re: LGA Daily Report: JAN '08
Just had a helo over by the five towers call the tower and ask to send the trucks out to see if his gear was down. It was interesting to see the whole crash and rescue crew come out to look at the helo...not something we see every day....

I had e-mailed a contact in Scotland this morning to advise of their rare visitor and he advised me VP-BDJ is now in ABZ, Aberdeen Scotland, a nice little airport I actually visited once, departing on my only flight aboard a rare BA ATP Turboprop.

Actually Sergio they where here 4 times and on the same Shuttle bank meaning they taxied out together to BOS/DCA at 0900, 1300, 1700 and finally at 2100 weather permitting. I've been here since 0500 so seen them all, 717 is back tommorow twice, 733 is doing the BOS-DCA Shuttle all day. Also for Wednesday the Eagles are scheduled for a mid-morning visit and the Allegheny Retro is scheduled to make 3 visits from BOS, all subject to change.
Cheers

N757SS is planned into LGA tonight and then to EWR

Re: LGA Daily Report: JAN '08
Today was one of those days! At one point there were probably 50 planes out there all shutdown as all the routes were closed. We ended up getting some real nasty thunderstorms right over the field that lasted for a LONG time. As I type this it looks like more are still to come. Most flights for all airlines came back to the gate after being out there for about 4 hours and cancelling. In addition to that we had about 10 diverts to SYR, ROC, PIT, PHL, BWI, and ORF. It was an ugly day out there....Im sure LGA777 was in the same situation :(

Actually LGA777's co-workers had a horrible shift but I watched much of the weather from my car in the Bronx. And I was shocked and amazed at what I saw, hundreds of people out in the worst of the lightning, pushing baby strollers, holding umbrella's, letting their young kids play unsupervised, or just out walking around and going about their buisness, all with frequent, strong, and very close lightning, never seen so many stupid people in my life, I am amazed knowbody got struck and killed in the Bronx. Sorry mods for getting off topic but had to wrant, still shocked at what I saw.
LGA777
PS, keep in mind I grew up near Tampa, the Thunder and Lightning Capital of the World, where their are multiple deaths every year from lightning strikes, often on the golf course.

i also got to watch most of it from the dry driver's seat of my truck. i honestly wish that i was at work just to be able to watch the storm. i did get soaked walking from the garage to my house though, a distance of only about 300ft. spent the rest of the afternoon in the airconditioned comfort of my house...

Re: LGA Daily Report: JAN '08
I wouldn't be surprised if Air Canada sends some larger equipment to LGA in the next couple of days. They have had a lot of cancellations and delays this past weekend due to storms in Toronto and in New York.
I'm scheduled to fly AC723 LGA-YYZ tomorrow and hopefully the flight will operate and perhaps even on a larger aircraft then an E-175!
-
Re: LGA Daily Report: JAN '08
wow, no posts from the folks at work. guess they're up to thier foreheads in work. i'm actually glad i took the day off. when i was working on my truck i got a little wet from a passing shower but when i got home and saw the radar i was honestly shocked. there was no relief today either; DCA, IAD, LGA, JFK, BWI, RIC and even SBY, RIC and CRW were getting hammered. truly a BAD day.

Re: LGA Daily Report: JAN '08
Matt, you where correct, no time for posts from work, pretty crazy but lots of very pro-active advance cancellations, the worst of the weather past just to the north of LGA yielding some spectacular Dark cloud formations around 1900 lcl, so wild it reminded me of the infamous scene from the film "The Ten Comandements". It was so unique I actually invited the whole ML Ramp outside to take a look as we had no flight activity at the time.
We did have one Special Visitor on 6-16, one I had never seen before, and was surprised as I thought it was a very short term decal that was gone months ago, here she is !

Indeed, standing in front of my house with 40mph gusts, I saw those clouds in the direction of the airport and wondered if LGA was about to get hit with a tornado. Lowest, darkest storm clouds I have ever seen.

This flight was actually canceled yesterday, but still listed as an Ejet for this evening's service.
Looking over FlightAware didn't see any big subs today, no 76s visiting our mini-airport. Only flight out of the ordinary was a UA 752 ferried to JFK.

Re: LGA Daily Report: JAN '08
I'm sitting here in LGA at gate A5 waiting for my flight to YYZ on AC723 and so far the flight is scheduled ontime and as an E-175. Looking out the window I just saw the Carolina Panthers 319 taxi by for departure. The Alleghany 319 just arrived as well.
I was very surprised how quickly check in and security went. It's my first time flying out of LGA in 7 years so I wasn't sure what to expect. However the terminal could use a facelift.
